What happens when a yacht builder designs its next model around how owners actually use their yachts?

That’s the thinking behind the new Benetti Oasis 36M, unveiled at Cannes.

Benetti has used feedback from Owners and Captains across its existing Oasis fleet to rethink everything from outdoor living spaces to hull efficiency and onboard autonomy.

The new 36M features a redesigned bow bulb that Benetti says cuts hydrodynamic resistance by more than 10% at 10 knots, while fuel consumption remains below 30 litres/hour per engine at cruise.
And there’s more…

The yacht has 5,000 litres of black and grey water capacity, electric actuation instead of traditional hydraulic systems, optional Siemens hybrid propulsion and a predictive maintenance platform using digital twin and machine learning technology.

The interesting question: is this the direction future yacht development is heading — designing around real operational data rather than simply adding more?

20 metres of aluminium — built in Cape Town and designed to cross oceans. 🌊

Askari Yachts has launched its first Askari 65, a long-range power cruiser built around offshore capability, extended living aboard and owner customisation.

The numbers are interesting: 4,650 litres of fuel, a stated cruising speed of 8.5 knots and an estimated range of around 2,300 nautical miles at cruising speed.

Then there is the 6,000-watt solar array built into the hydraulically folding flybridge hardtop, plus four ensuite cabins, a full-standing-height engine room and a dedicated aft garage for cruising equipment.

And this is only the beginning for Askari Yachts, with an Askari 55 sailing catamaran already in build.

Next stop? Annapolis, where the first Askari 65 will make her international debut in October. 🇺🇸

Would aluminium be your choice for a long-range cruising yacht?

Sunseeker is changing the way it sells and supports yachts across Europe.

Sunseeker International has launched Sunseeker Europe, taking direct control of distribution, service and warranty support in markets previously covered by Sunseeker London and Sunseeker Poole.

The move follows notices from the two distributors of their intention to appoint an administrator.

But Sunseeker International says its own operations, production and financial position are unaffected — and yachts currently under construction will continue to be supported.

The change also marks the end of a remarkable three-decade relationship. David Lewis and Christopher Head established Sunseeker London in 1993, with the business eventually growing to £246 million in sales and 120 staff.

Now Sunseeker is bringing the customer relationship much closer to the shipyard in Dorset.

What do you think this means for Sunseeker's European strategy? 👇
