Today we heard the tragic and sad news that Alan Challinor had passed away! We were all devastated to hear this news! He was not only one of our favourite customers but also a friend and a true gentleman! We will miss the football chats in the office whilst waiting for your van and he was always treating all the lads to a bacon butty! Rip Alan 💔

So sad to hear the tragic news today that Andy Webster has passed away! He was a regular customer of ours and we always enjoyed seeing him pull up in his flash cars! Our thoughts go out to Andy’s family!

Once we have all kicked the Corona Virus’s arse we at Catherine Street Motors are going to hire out the Village Hotel function room and provide a celebratory evening for all of our customers! There will be a hot buffet and a DJ! Oh and we will be able to drink and dance the night away!

Further update for everybody asking about MOT tests!

Due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, cars and vans and motorcycles due their MOT from 30 March 2020 will have their MOT extended by 6 months.

This will continue until confirmed otherwise.

This will allow vehicle owners to continue to be able to get to work where this absolutely cannot be done from home or do essential shopping.

Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition and drivers can be prosecuted if they drive an unsafe vehicle.

Your MOT centre can stay open after 30 March 2020 to carry out MOTs if you need to. This could include retests or tests of a vehicle that had an MOT due before 30 March.

Basically we can still MOT vehicles after the 30th march and it is still your responsibility to make sure your vehicle is in a road worthy condition!

Although your mot can be exempt for 6 months, if you were to have a road traffic accident and for instance the tyres were bald then this would further impact your insurance!

Stay safe and continue to make sure your vehicles are safe on our roads!

UPDATE - we have had so many phone calls today regarding our opening hours!
After listening to the PM address the nation last night I was unsure whether we would be open for business or not!
We can confirm that we are exempt from closure in our sector at this moment in time and therefore open for business!
A customer who is being treated for cancer was concerned that he might not be able to get to the hospital for his treatment because his MOT was set to run out! To serve this customer alone touched us and although he doesn’t know it yet the MOT will be free of charge when he visit us!

We have asked all customers to leave vehicles with us and not wait in the waiting area and also respect the 2 metre social distance guide!
