Paint Correction Package - BMW 840ci Grand Tourer Coupe

This stunning BMW 8 Series Coupe came to me looking tired, dull and lacking the presence it deserves. Years of oxidation, bush rash scratches, swirl marks and paint defects had taken their toll on this beautiful metallic green V8-powered grand tourer.

After paint correction, the transformation speaks for itself.

The gloss levels are back, the depth of colour is incredible, and the defects that were muting the finish have been safely removed.

“Hellfire that’s shiny!”

These were the customers first words when they arrived at the Unit to collect.

Never gets old to see and hear customer’s reactions.

This BMW X3 M Sport with body kit is the customers dream car. They had been searching for it for months and drove 2 hours each way to view it, falling in love with it and making the purchase.

That’s when I come in. They wanted the paint correcting and then protecting with a ceramic coating.

Over two days at the Unit in Morley, the car was pre washed, contact washed, chemically decontaminated of iron & tar, and washed again before being prepped for machine polishing.

Swirls and minor scratches were removed, then the paint was refined with a high gloss finishing polish, leaving a mirror like finish.

The final step for the exterior was the installation of a 2 year ceramic coating on the paint, to leave a highly water & dirt repellent surface, make washing easier, and protect against bird 💩, tree sap, and UV damage from the suns rays.

To finish, an interior valet was carried out, removing colour transfer on the ivory leather and returning them to the original colour.

VW Camper Protection Package

I worked on this stunning Iridium Grey Metallic VW T6.1 Transporter Camper Conversion over 3 days, cleansing and decontaminating the paint and wheels, enhancing the gloss of the paint and protecting the paint, glass, wheels and plastics, as well as deep cleaning the interior and sealing the fabric seats.

The paint has now been protected for 5 years using the excellent “Metallic Glass” coating

The wheels were removed, deep cleaned and then coated with Infinity Wax “Revolution” wheel coating, then remounted, with the nuts torqued to manufacturers specs for safety.

Glass was sealed with Infinity Wax Diamond Vision glass sealant.

Plastics protected with Infinity Wax Plastic Coat.

It now ready for a trip to France and Spain, giving the owner peace of mind that all the surfaces have been protected

It’s my favourite thing to do in this heat 🥵

Thankfully the customer had really good shaded areas to work in, otherwise this job would have been postponed, as you can’t machine polish and/or ceramic coat hot panels.

I first worked on this Mercedes A Class in March, having been booked for a full valet. During the booking process the customer advised that it had been ceramic coated by Mercedes.

Unfortunately, when I got there, it was clear that whilst there was evidence that there was some protection on the paint at some stage, it was very patchy and very much at the end of its life.

Additionally, in the sunlight, it was obvious that the paint had swirls, micro scratches and minor defects.

Now I’m not saying the dealer misled the buyer, but there was definitely some embellishment in how much protection was still on the paint.

After some discussion, the customer decided to book in a single stage paint correction (machine polish for those not in the know) and a 2 year ceramic coating. They also requested that the alcantara fabric on the seats be protected with a professional grade fabric sealant.

Fast forward to May bank holiday weekend and the car has been transformed into a mirror like finish and is now protected with a quality ceramic coating for the next 2 years.

Pre Sale Valet - Astra GTC

Having lived on a farm for the last few years, this GTC is always filthy when the owner books me in to get it cleaned up.

This one is the last time it will be on my schedule though, it’s being sold.

A pre sale valet is designed to maximise the money you can achieve in a sale.

Generally, it includes an entry level machine polish to bring out as much gloss as possible, whilst keeping costs under control.

Scratches are corrected if they’re not too deep.

The interior is cleaned to a showroom standard.

Ford Transit Interior Cab Transformation

You work hard all week running your business and your van takes the brunt of it.

You get used to the dust, the grime, the spilt coffee, the dirty seats that end up with more filth on them than your trousers.

At some point though, it’s great to have a reset.

Get that cab looking & feeling like it did when you first bought it.

Somewhere clean and fresh to be in between jobs and on the commute.

That’s where Ray had got to with his Transit. He needed it clean again and called me to work my magic on it.

As you’ll see in the photos, it was pretty dirty, but definitely not the worst I’ve seen by a long stretch.

I got to work using chemicals and steam. Brought all surfaces back to dust free.

All dirt, dust, stones etc were dry vacced up and the floors cleaned.

The glass was cleaned of all build up and left streak free.

Then it was onto those seats.

I soaked them with fabric cleaner, agitated with a drill brush, then pulled all the embedded dirt and liquid out with a wet vacuum, leaving them clean, fresh and like new.

It took me until I was 49 years old to find a job I truly loved.

I enjoyed the one before (self employed online health coaching and in person PT), but always felt like I didn’t really belong in the industry.

I made the most of all the employed jobs before that:

Human Resources
Client Account Manager
Cargo Services Manager
Training Officer
Cargo Duty Supervisor
Cargo Lead Agent
Cargo Office Clerk
Retail Deputy Manager
Retail Trainee Assistant Manager
Record Store Assistant
Club DJ

Other than the DJing jobs, the rest were a means to an end. To pay the bills and have money to socialise.

Yet here I am at the grand old age of 52, 4 months from turning 53, and I have the job I’ve enjoyed the most.

My body complains at me everyday.

My knees are shot

Yet I keep turning up to transform customers vehicles.

Because when you enjoy what you’re doing, you find reasons to turn up, rather than reasons to stay off.

So my message to anyone who’s got this far is: Keep going, keep searching for that dream job. Never give up and always take that risk when the opportunity presents itself.

I started this business after a massive life event. I had separated from my wife at the time and we were going through divorce proceedings. I had moved into a rental. I had bills to pay and food to put on the table for the kids, who I had agreed 50/50 custody for with their Mum.

It would’ve been easy to go and get a job back in corporate or retail. Feel secure with the guaranteed income.

But I took this risk and I’m so glad I did. It gives me the flexibility for the kids when needed, but I also work very hard on the days I don’t have them. Because I love it.

I’m not about to be rich from it. Far from it - most months I rely on benefits to help with my rent, bills, groceries etc.

One day I hope I can build the business to a point where i don’t need that support every month.

But for now, I’m happy.

And you can be too.

Take that risk when the opportunity presents itself

Because working in a job you don’t love just to pay the bills isn’t living

From auction mess to actually saleable 👌

This VW Golf GTD came in from a regular customer who picked it up to flip — but let’s just say it had been through the wars in its previous ownership…

Paint splatter, plaster embedded in the seats, flat and scratched paintwork… the full handyman special 😅

A one-step cut & finish brought the gloss back whilst dealing with a lot of the scratches, but the interior?

That was the real battle.

Three full rounds of shampooing, steaming, and extracting just to lift the plaster from the seats. Drying it down between each pass made every hidden patch show itself again.

Not every job is a highlight reel, and this one definitely wasn’t perfect — but I’m proud of how far it came.

A huge improvement, and now actually ready to sell.
