Sea Wagon ! Hecate is an incredible Wharram Cat … she’s been round the world & is the star of Savage Waters ( great film, not really about surfing , more about the dedication & love of West Country humans doing what they love , adventuring into crazy territory ).
First painted in 2016 , when the world was such a different place , I’m back again , revisiting all the ideas & thoughts I had back then , Polynesian Prayer Halls , the braveness of sea people over centuries, Celtic Warriors , ocean wagons & Hecate herself , goddess of land & sea , neither good nor bad , just there , being marvellous . My shipmate then, 9 yrs ago, was Dingo , the best hound in the universe .. he died last year so it was so lovely to repaint him as the protective , good natured spirit ( 4 of him actually as Hecate ran with a pack of dogs ) he was .
A week spent on her has been the most enjoyable time I’ve had in a long time … both healing & nurturing , repainting the wounds she’s encountered on her endless adventures & healing mine to boot …. happily more weeks to come as Matt & Archie built a floating dock so , work continues whatever the tide ☀️🦩. Thanks Matt & Suzanne , I’ve not looked forward to going to sleep & getting up sooo much in a long long time 🥰

A small Cumbrian wagon painting workshop coming up in August. Held at Wanderlust, Penrith , Cumbria .
We’re heading for dates for after the first week in August ….

You’ll learn the history of scrolling, brush care & paint consistency, techniques using chisel & lining brushes , building confidence , getting used to & knowing correct tools for the job & design balance which will all help you to produce your own piece on the last day . All professional materials included . £400 for 3 day course . £100 deposit required to secure a place .
Please bring something you’d like to paint on the last day ( milk churn, furniture, anything at all, as long as it’s well prepped ie: no bare wood ) .
