🚗 DVSA TOP 10 DRIVING TEST FAILS – NUMBER 3! 🚨

🥉 NUMBER 3 – MOVING OFF UNSAFELY!

Did you know moving off unsafely is the THIRD most common reason for failing a driving test in Great Britain? 👀

❌ Common mistakes:
🔴 Not checking blind spots.
🔴 Moving off when traffic is approaching.
🔴 Pulling out without a safe gap.
🔴 Not checking behind after an emergency stop.

✅ GRID'S TOP TIP!

👀 OBSERVE – ASSESS – DECIDE – ACT!

Check your mirrors and blind spots, find a safe gap and move off smoothly without affecting other road users.

Weather warning ⚠️

24/10/2026

🚨🟠 AMBER WEATHER WARNING – DRIVER SAFETY ALERT 🟠🚨

🚗 GRID DRIVING SCHOOL | STAY SAFE ON THE ROADS

With amber weather warnings affecting parts of Scotland this weekend, we're urging motorists across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire to take extra care.

Whether you're a learner, newly qualified or experienced driver, severe weather can catch anyone out!

Here are some important road safety tips based on guidance from Traffic Scotland and the DVSA.

⚠️ BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

✅ Is your journey essential? If not, consider postponing it.

✅ Check Traffic Scotland for road closures and travel disruption.

✅ Check tyres, lights, wipers and screenwash.

✅ Allow extra time and plan alternative routes.

🌧️ DRIVING IN HEAVY RAIN & STRONG WINDS

🚗 Reduce your speed and increase following distances. Stopping distances can DOUBLE on wet roads!

💨 Take extra care on exposed roads, bridges and around high-sided vehicles.

💦 NEVER drive through floodwater. You cannot judge its depth or hidden dangers.

👀 Use dipped headlights when visibility is seriously reduced.

🛑 Avoid sudden braking, harsh steering and unnecessary overtaking.

⚠️ Watch for fallen branches, debris and standing water.

🚨 WHAT TO AVOID

❌ Unnecessary journeys during severe weather.

❌ Driving through flooded roads.

❌ Tailgating or rushing to your destination.

❌ Using cruise control when grip is reduced.

❌ Ignoring road closures or official warnings.

❤️ A MESSAGE FROM GRID

As driving instructors, our responsibility doesn't end when someone passes their test.

We want every driver, passenger, cyclist and pedestrian to get home safely.

No journey, appointment or deadline is worth risking your life or someone else's.
