Micro Maniacs Club

'The Max Fun - Min Cost Club' The Micro Maniacs Club is the friendly and fun club for microcar owners and enthusiasts. Who are we? What does it cost?

You don’t need to own a microcar to join the Micro Maniacs Club – just bring your enthusiasm to a Club meeting! All makes of car whatever age or size are welcome, all that we ask is that you share our love for microcars. The Micro Maniacs were formed as the East Yorkshire Micro Maniacs in 1989 when a few microcar enthusiasts in the East Riding got together to form a fun club. The Micro Maniacs Club has grown and now has around 200 members located throughout the UK and some overseas members as far afield as New Zealand. Annual UK membership costs £12, overseas £19. So why not join us and become a ‘Micro Maniac’? Details are on our Membership page. Our membership year runs from January to December. To show why we are the ‘Max Fun Min Cost Club’ if joining after 1st July, we are pleased to offer a special rate of £18 for an 18-month subscription. Members joining after our last rally of the season (usually mid-October) will have their standard membership of £12 carried over to the following year with no extra fee.

Our old friend John Lee seen here in his lovely Berkeley t60, featured in the book Microcars at Large by Adam Quellin. In his later years John would attend Micro Maniac rallies in his lime green Trabant, also a lovely car.

A request for help from new member Geoff Nicholls, who is based in Knutsford, Cheshire.

Hello all, I am the proud new owner of a Zetta bubble car that has been off the road for 8 years, and I am starting a restoration to bring it back to life.

It was an unusual build, starting as an EV with 4 x 12v batteries powering a 48v motor. Sometime later, a lawnmower engine was added as a range extender, resulting in a fairly complex drive arrangement.

I need to get the body off the chassis to get at all the workings, but the car comes with no documentation, and I am not sure how many bolts secure it.

Does anyone have, or know anyone who has ANY technical information on these cars?

The internet suggests only 17 were built, so owners will be rare. If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful.

If anyone can assist Geoff, then please contact direct on:

Following on from our rally at Wolds Way last weekend, we have provisionally booked the Wolds Way site for our 2027 rally. The dates are from Thursday15th to Sunday 18th July, a weekend later than this year. Can I have some feedback please if these dates are acceptable to everyone. Hopefully they don't coincide with other events. If I know of any problems soon enough we can change to the previous weekend, thanks, Eric.
