Day 3. After a frantic first two days of the Show with tremendous response to the three of the very best examples of the Unipower GT on display on the Unipower GT Owners Club & Register stand, Sunday was a little more relaxed giving us a little time to take in what has been one of the busiest Classic Motor Shows for a few years. Who says the Classic Car movement is dying ?, with packed Halls at the Show and a very vibrant feel throughout the three days.

George a long time owner, joined us on the Stand today and was a great help in taking the load off myself, Mark and Guy in answering the many questions from visitors. Some visitors even thought Guy’s restored car was a ‘new’ car, such is the quality of his restoration !.

So today concluded the ‘25 Show where we celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Unipower GT, which is an incredible achievement.

It’s thanks to Ernie Unger and Val Dare-Bryan for conceiving and building such a robust little Sportscar, as well as the late Tim Powell and Piers Weld-Forrester, the many other members of UPD & Unipower Cars, Simon Beecher and Gerry Wheeler to name just two of the many, some of whom are also not with us any more, and of course all the owners across the World who have maintained their cars over these last 60-years. As it’s reached 60-years I’m sure now that these incredible cars will continue to be enjoyed for many years to come.

So thanks again to Guy, Mark & George, it’s been a blast !.

Day 2, Saturday and what an amazing amount of interest in the Unipower GT. The fabulous examples on display have really drawn very complementary comments and a number of serious potential buyers who have been put in touch with its seller. Just as well we had Mark, Guy and myself on the stand as we are being kept busy providing answers to the many questions being posed by visitors.

We were also delighted to one again welcome Gerry Wheeler to the Stand along with his son Simon.

Gerry was one of those who both trimmed and assembled the cars in 1969. Now 89, he was determined to once again climb into Guy’s restored car and to our amazement succeeded. He certainly looked very pleased to be in a Unipower GT for the first time since the end of 1969. Gerry also helped to explain to Guy some of the techniques used to fit some trim materials into the car especially the headlining. Well done Gerry 👏.

We are looking forward to the last day tomorrow and meeting more enthusiasts.

Celebrating our 60th Anniversary of the Unipower GT, The Classic Motor Show has opened today and our stand 3-160 is looking extremely good given the resources available to us.

The cars look brilliant and are some of the very best examples ever especially as the oldest on show here is now 60-years old.

You can follow the extensive rebuild of Guy’s car (the Amber/White car) on the Club’s blog pages over the last few years cumulating in the fantastic correct finished article on display.

Mark’s LHD version (roughly 50% of production were LHD), is fully road legal and used regularly on sunny days !.

Gerry’s ex-Works race car dates back to January 1966 when a customer placed an order for a completion version at the Racing Car Show launch, which subsequently as a factory developed entry, went on to compete in the World Sports Car Championship in 1969. Since buying the car in 1976, Gerry has raced the car in UK Sports Car championships, Historic Championships, Le Mans Legends and at Reims, and amongst many others taking a 2nd in Class in the prestigious HSCC Guards Trophy 2ltr Championship, all whilst running its original FIA spec 1293cc Cooper ‘S’ engine.

Come along today and visit our Stand 3-160 at the NEC.

Setup day for the Club stand at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Birmingham UK.
Mark and Guy have brought along their respective exceptional examples of the marque to display alongside my ex-Works race car.
We have been given a good sized stand space by the Organisor, Alison Judge, for which we are very grateful and which we’ve used to good effect.
Mark and Guy pictured here putting some final touches to our stand, laying the last of the floor tiles.
The Show opens tomorrow at 09:00 for the Press and General Public at 10:00. Come along and see some superb examples of the Unipower GT and say hi.

The Unipower GT, oft known by its UK registration number LTM 80G, has very recently been sold again and has found a new home in Denmark.
This is great news, as I can say at this time that its new owner has some very exciting plans for the car, more of which will be revealed as and when further news becomes available.

In my previous post, I refer to LTM 80G having been sold recently and this was to Albion Motorcars in Belgium. I also mentioned that the car was soon to be on display at a Classic Car show in Belgium and thanks to Lupo Pelzl can confirm that this was over last weekend at the InterClassics Show in Maastricht.

The car is once again up for sale and in the same condition as previously sold, for € 85,000.

Look forward to more news on this in due course.

Great news that this 1969 built road version, generally known by its registration LTM 80G, modified for competition many years ago by a previous owner and had underwent a recent full rebuild with many new parts by its previous owner, has now been sold. Previously advertised by the Club and with well known ROFGO, then consigned to the Bonhams auction in July '23 at the Goodwood Revival, without realising its true value, has now gone to be part of its new owner's collection. It is thought that it will be displayed in the Maastricht Classic Car Show next week.
More on its activities as and when, and it is also hoped that it will grace a race track once again some time.
