I'm not totally happy with some things happening with driving tuition at the moment. I'm totally committed to my students . They are great to work with thankfully, this keeps my morale up.
I'll try to take on some new people soon.

Hello everyone.

So, as the clock hit 6 pm this evening, I understand the online test booking system has closed to be updated for the changes coming in tomorrow, Tuesday 12th May 2026.

After 22 years of providing what I considered to be a genuinely helpful and caring service of helping my students booking and managing their car driving tests, it will now be illegal for all ADI's like myself to do this.

I think back to the Covid times and when it was possible to book tests again, I on one occasion was on the phone with the DVSA for I think, over 2 hours sorting test bookings for some of my students.

Not all ADI's have the same view as me and I totally respect that. However I've seen views on this subject expressed that match mine.

This may be viewed as an overreaction, on my part, but I fear there may be problems.

Now, it may turnout to be a Brilliant decision.
If it does. I will gladly accept that I was wrong.

I HOPE I AM WRONG!

I have enjoyed teaching people to drive over the past 22 years. There have been some great moments.

I have a great group of students, and I look forward to working with them to help them gain their full licences and most importantly, be safe drivers in the future.

This is the update from the DVSA. Not a huge fan of the way things are being changed , but have no choice.

From 12 May, only you as the learner driver will be able to book and manage your car driving test.

This means your driving instructor won’t be allowed to do this for you.

Some of you with tests booked may be getting emails with repeat information that you already have with your test details.

This is because I am having to remove my contact details from the bookings for 12th May onwards. The only person who will be allowed to control the booking is the student with no help from us, their trainers.

As from Tuesday, I'm afraid like all other Approved Driving Instructors, I will not be allowed to book or manage tests on behalf of our students.

I'll say more about this over the weekend.
