Totnes and South Hams Tyres LTD are looking for a friendly and professional receptionist to join our Mechanical Department.

We are a well-established independent garage and tyre business located in Dartington. We offer a wide range of services to both retail and trade customers, including mechanical repairs, MOT testing, servicing, tyre fitting, and puncture repairs. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly, professional, and busy team.

Previous experience of working within the motor sector is desirable but not essential.

Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm
No weekend work!

Your key responsibilities:
Greeting customers and checking vehicles in
Take bookings and prepare customer quotations
Update customers about the status of their vehicle
Order parts from suppliers in advance of work bookings
Accurately record and communicate customer work requests to technicians.
Prepare customer invoices and obtain payment
Keep the office and reception area clean and tidy
Communicate job details accurately from technicians handovers to customers

What we’re looking for:
Previous experience in an office or front facing role is preferred
A welcoming attitude to create a positive experience for our customers
Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining professionalism
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Attention to detail and keeping accurate records
Good time management skills

What we offer:

Permanent position after a 3-month probation period
Competitive pay: £27,625 – £30,000 per year (gross pay, based on hourly rate)

Perform inspections to identify issues before they develop further

Proven experience in diagnostics and mechanical repairs
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail with accurate vehicle record-keeping
Good time management and organisational skills
Must have your own tools
A full, valid UK driving licence is required
