Bmw 118d – Back on the Road and Out of Limp Mode 💪🚗

This car came in with multiple DPF and Egr faults, leaving the vehicle stuck in limp mode and down on power.

After carrying out full diagnostics and live data logging, we quickly identified the root of the problem and applied one of our proven in-house solutions to get the car running properly again.

🤔🤔 2.0 VELAR — ANOTHER MAP THAT WASN’T QUITE RIGHT! 🤔🤔

We had this 2.0 Velar brought to us after being mapped by a local company. The customer was complaining about erratic power delivery and the car repeatedly going into limp mode 🫤🫤

We started with a full diagnostic scan — strangely, there were no fault codes stored 🤔

So we went deeper…

We carried out live data logging and could clearly see the turbo was overboosting 😡😡

We then pulled the file from the ECU and had a good look through it. It was immediately obvious that the turbo boost tables had been maxed out, along with torque limiters and other areas of the calibration that had simply been pushed too far. 😡

This is exactly why we always say it’s not about maxing maps out to chase big numbers!

We built the car a brand-new calibration, concentrating on getting the power delivery right, keeping the boost under control and making the car drive properly.

The customer then took the car out for a test drive…

They couldn't believe the difference! 💯💯

Smooth, controlled power delivery with none of the horrible behaviour they had experienced before. 👌

We say it all the time:

A quality remap isn't about how much you can max the tables out.

It's about sensible gains, correct calibration, drivability, reliability and doing the job properly. 💯
