Many of you will recognise FOC member Ian Barkaway as a familiar face around concours lawns, track day pit lanes and Ferrari Owners' Club events. Ian's passion for Ferrari goes back to 1986 when he moved from Rolls Royce, where he had been an apprentice and technician, to work at a local Ferrari specialist. His career progressed and he achieved success in both managerial and technical roles within
both the Ferrari dealer network and specialist operations. In recent years Ian's restoration work has been very much admired, and owners have been invited to display their cars (and his work) in world class events such as the Salon Prive Concours d'Elegance, London, Fȇte Champȇtre at the Hurlingham Club, London and the Ferrari Owners' Club national concours. Ian has been involved with many projects across a variety of tipos including ; Ferrari Boxers, Ferrari 246 Dinos, Ferrari 288 GTOs, Ferrari 250 GT Lusso and Ferrari 328s, all of which have gone on to win a variety of awards including Fȇte Champȇtre Car of the Day award for the last three consecutive years with three different cars, four class accolades at the Ferrari Owners' Club concours in different classes, and three best of show awards at other events. There are also cars successfully campaigning on race circuits around Europe with engines and gearboxes that Ian has built. In response to Ferrari owners' demand for his skills, Ian has now opened Barkaways, his own specialist Ferrari operation. Barkaways is located just outside Tonbridge in Kent and has a dedicated team with a simple philosophy, to help you to enjoy your Ferrari. You may only need a simple service, or a full restoration but Ian maintains that it is vital that the owner is involved in the process and they enjoy the journey.
