⚠️ This what driving in floods can do ⚠️.....This Suzuki Swift is relatively new to my customer and was complaining about difficulty engaging gears...a check of the linkages both ends of the cables were fine, but on splitting the gearbox from the engine I found LOTS of clutch plate material, stuck to the release bearing and the spring and friction plates were blue (heat damage)
The bearing and fork were extremely stiff and the corrosion seen was very likely caused by driving in flood water...the car would have struggled to overcome the weight of water and wore down the friction material making the plates extremely hot, resulting in corrosion and rust build up on the smooth operating surfaces.......a costly error if so..Clutch changed. 👍

It's been a busy couple of days.😀 Coolant flange/thermostat for a 1.6D Fiat. An alternator for a 1.7 Astra...a seasonal return for a few small repairs to the local cricket clubs grass rolling machine...a slight parasitic draw on a 2lt Golf and a replacement exhaust section for a 1.4 Astra....phew pass me a beer! 🍺

A few recent snaps 📸..Brake shoes replacement for Volvo XC90. A replacement suspension strut and handbrake cables for a 2022 Renault Trafic...the adjustment screw sheared off so made a replacement from threaded bar......A set of rear brake pads for a MK4 Golf and a flexible drive coupling for a Skoda Yeti.

This 2000 , Mercedes SLK R170, has needed new brake pads and discs today in preparation for MOT. Not without issues, a rear caliper had seized as well as the module for the window washer has failed. Permanent 9v from module and high resistance in wiring will need a return visit with replacement parts..
