Not been many posts over the last few weeks as we’ve been absolutely overloaded with timing chains and clutches it’s been non stop!

Just wanted to show you a perfect example of a crap quality timing chain kit fitted to this BMW 1 Series.

This chain kit was replaced only 12 months ago and just look at the condition of it now. Honestly, I’m surprised the car was still running!

This is exactly why we only use genuine, quality chain kits from trusted suppliers. There’s a reason we don’t use cheap aftermarket kits like the BGA kit that was previously fitted to this car.

Buy cheap, buy twice. 💯

When it comes to timing chains, saving a few quid on parts can end up costing you a hell of a lot more in the long run.

Nice selection of cars in the workshop this week.

* BMW 3 Series in for suspension work.
* Ford Focus in for a ball joint and brakes.
* Mini R56 in for a full service and MOT.
* Mini Countryman JCW in for a service.
* Mini R56 diesel in for a clutch.
* Mini F56 in for diagnostics (unfortunately I forgot to grab a picture!).
* Mini R52 in for a timing chain, which is next week’s job which the owner traveled three hours to get to me which is much appreciated.

I’ve also got an R53 booked in on Monday, which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve always had a soft spot for the first-generation Minis!

A massive thank you to all my customers for keeping me so busy this week. It’s been that busy I’m even working tomorrow (Saturday) to keep on top of everything.

Not much of a business post, more of an appreciation post.

Every now and then we get the odd MINI in for a service, MOT or just a general check-over. This R56 came in after the owners had recently bought it, and I have to say, the condition of this car is unbelievable.

It’s covered just 61,000 miles, has a great service history, and only needed a few minor jobs sorting – binding rear brakes and a slight oil mist from a driveshaft seal.
Gave it a full service using genuine mini oil and filters and fixed its fue issues.
The owners are very good customers of mine as own a fleet of minis (more than me).

As a big MINI fan, I absolutely love seeing cars like this. It was a pleasure to message the new owner and tell them what a mint example they’ve bought. Even the MOT tester commented on how nice it is!

I had a lovely little R52 come in not long ago as well, and I’ll get the photos together to show you that one too. But this has to be the cleanest R56 I’ve ever come across. Absolute credit to its owners.

Do you own a MINI F55 or F56 and have any of these fault codes?

These faults are commonly caused by the turbo wastegate linkage wearing out, causing the wastegate to go out of tolerance.

BMW/MINI don’t supply the linkage separately, meaning they’re likely to recommend replacing the entire turbocharger – an expensive repair.

Common fault codes:

* 123401 – Electric wastegate, stop learning: stop position outside tolerance.
* 123432 – Electric wastegate learning limit stop malfunction.
* 120308 – Charging pressure control, plausibility: pressure too low (underboost).
* 120408 – Charging pressure control: switch-off as a consequence.

Good news: I now have replacement wastegate linkages in stock.

I can:

* Fit a new wastegate linkage.
* Correctly set up and calibrate the electronic actuator.
* Bring the wastegate back within tolerance.
* Save you the cost of replacing a perfectly good turbo.

If your MINI has any of these fault codes, get in touch before spending money on a new turbo. In many cases, I can repair the existing one and save you a significant amount.

One dead glow plug, EGR flow issues, and the legendary N47 doing what an N47 does best.

The owners always tell me I’m their best customer , and they’re definitely some of my favourite customers. We never miss the chance to wind each other up, but it’s always a pleasure seeing them both.

Here’s to another nightmare N47…

Lovely Mercedes Vito mini camper van in today for its MOT and repairs.

This one had new front brake discs and pads fitted, along with a bottom ball joint and track rod ends.

It wouldn’t quite fit in the workshop due to the tent box but with the weather being perfect, we carried out all the work outside.

Another busy few days here at Mini Worxs!

We’ve had a great mix of jobs in the workshop:

VW Golf GTI in for a service.

Mini Countryman with a very noisy suspension. The owner had already been to another garage who fitted new parts, but the noise was still there. They were even told to “just turn the radio up!” 😳 We found the actual issue, got it sorted, and it’s now driving quietly as it should.

JP, one of our regular customers, was back again for a fan resistor and a few other bits. Thanks for your continued support – it’s always appreciated!

Mini Cabriolet belonging to a new customer who had recently purchased the car. We carried out a full inspection and highlighted the repairs needed to get it up to scratch.

Due to the hot weather, we’re currently working by appointment only in the evenings, up until 10pm, when it’s much cooler to work on your vehicle.
