Another Air Suspension rescue job completed. 🔧⚡

These two Teslas were both suffering from air suspension problems.

One Model X developed an air suspension fault which affected the vehicle’s ride height and normal use.

The Model S was even more serious — the air suspension lost pressure and the car dropped extremely low, making it unsuitable to continue driving.

After inspection, we found faults within the air suspension system, including an aged / failed air compressor. Once removed, you can clearly see significant corrosion on the original compressor.

But replacing the compressor alone isn’t always enough.

If there is a leak from an air strut, valve block, airline or connection, the compressor may be forced to run excessively to maintain pressure. This can eventually cause the compressor to overheat and fail again.

That’s why we always try to identify the root cause, not simply replace the failed part.

Tesla Model Y – Only 39,000 Miles, but Shaking at 70mph

A little background on this car first.

This Model Y has covered only around 39,000 miles, and the customer has owned it from new. Recently, however, they noticed the car had developed significant vibration when driving at around 70mph on the motorway.

Thank you to the customer for trusting UKTESLA to investigate. 🙏

During our inspection, we found:

🔹 All four tyres had different patterns of abnormal and uneven wear
🔹 Several suspension arm bushes were damaged
🔹 Some suspension components had developed noticeable play

These problems can affect not only tyre wear and suspension noise, but also the car’s high-speed stability, handling and overall driving feel.

We recommended:

✅ Replace the affected suspension arms
✅ Replace all four tyres
✅ Carry out a full four-wheel alignment
✅ Road test the vehicle afterwards

While we worked on the car, the customer was able to head into Birmingham city centre near our new workshop, spend some time with the family and watch a movie. Once everything was completed and road-tested, we picked them up again.

The best part was hearing the customer say afterwards that the car felt like new again! 🙌

Tesla Model S – A/C & Suspension Overhaul | UKTESLA

This customer originally came to us because the air conditioning was no longer blowing cold. After carrying out a full inspection, we found there was much more going on than just an A/C problem.

❄️ Air Conditioning System
Both the left and right A/C condensers were found to be leaking refrigerant and required replacement.

Once everything was removed, we also discovered a large build-up of leaves, dirt and debris trapped around the condenser/radiator cooling pack. 🍂

Rather than simply replacing the faulty parts, our team took the time to thoroughly clean the entire cooling pack and remove all trapped debris before installing the new components.

A blocked cooling pack can restrict airflow and reduce heat dissipation, which can affect the efficiency of the A/C and thermal management system.

✅ New condensers installed
✅ New A/C seals fitted
✅ Cooling pack thoroughly cleaned
✅ Leaves, dirt & debris removed
✅ A/C system recharged
✅ Tesla Thermal System Test completed — PASS, no failure detected ✅

🔩 Suspension & Chassis Inspection
We also discovered multiple worn suspension components and ball joints with damaged boots and excessive play, causing several knocking and creaking noises from underneath the vehicle.

⚠️ More importantly, the lower steering U-joint had developed excessive play, causing noticeable free play in the steering wheel and affecting steering response and safety.

After a major overhaul:

✅ Suspension components replaced
✅ Worn ball joints addressed
✅ Lower steering U-joint replaced
✅ A/C refrigerant leaks repaired
✅ A/C system serviced & tested
✅ Full road test completed

The result? A completely different car! 👌
No more suspension noises, the steering feels tight and precise again, and the car is now smooth, quiet and confidence-inspiring to drive.

UKTESLA Emergency Mobile Repair Service – Tesla Model S Suspension Failure

This Tesla Model S had successfully passed its MOT only a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, shortly after arriving at work, the owner heard a loud “bang” followed by a metallic object falling beneath the vehicle. The steering immediately became difficult and the vehicle was no longer safe to drive.

Following an on-site inspection, we discovered that a front suspension arm had suffered a complete failure. Further examination also revealed multiple suspension components showing significant age-related wear and deterioration.

Our technician carried out emergency repairs and performed a comprehensive suspension inspection to assess the overall condition of the vehicle.

Summer is Here – Is Your Tesla A/C System Really Healthy?

Recently we’ve been inspecting a number of Tesla A/C systems and finding some common issues:

❄️ Aging A/C compressors with reduced efficiency
❄️ Condensers blocked with leaves, dirt and road debris
❄️ Saturated desiccant filters contaminated with moisture
❄️ Low refrigerant levels or contaminated refrigerant
❄️ Reduced cooling performance affecting battery thermal management

At UKTESLA, we don’t simply judge an A/C system by how cold the air feels. We diagnose using real vehicle data and system testing:

✅ Tesla Toolbox diagnostics
✅ High & low side pressure testing
✅ Vent temperature measurements
✅ Compressor power and efficiency analysis

Many Tesla owners don’t realise that the A/C system is responsible not only for cooling the cabin, but also for cooling the high-voltage battery.

⚠️ Have you noticed any of the following?

In many cases, this isn’t a battery or drive unit issue.

During Supercharging, Tesla uses the A/C system to actively cool the battery pack. If the compressor is aging, the refrigerant charge is low, the condenser is restricted, or the cooling system efficiency has dropped, the compressor must work much harder.

This can result in:

⚠️ Dashboard vibration during charging
⚠️ Reduced cooling performance
⚠️ Increased power consumption
⚠️ Charging speed limitations due to insufficient battery cooling

We’ve also seen vehicles with condensers heavily blocked by leaves and debris, restricting airflow and significantly reducing cooling efficiency.

Tesla Model 3 Rear Knuckle Bushes – Why We Often Recommend Replacing the Complete Knuckle

We recently worked on a Tesla Model 3 that came in with a worn upper knuckle bush. The initial plan was simply to replace the failed bush.

However, once the assembly was removed and inspected, it became clear that the issue wasn’t limited to just one bush:

🔧 Upper bush heavily worn and deteriorated
🔧 Other bushes showing signs of ageing and cracking
🔧 Inner metal sleeves corroded
🔧 Rubber beginning to separate and harden

Many repairs focus on replacing only the failed bush, which can reduce the immediate repair cost. However, all the bushes within the knuckle assembly have usually experienced the same age, mileage and road conditions.

As a result, it’s quite common for another bush in the same assembly to fail not long after the first repair.

💡 This is why we often discuss an alternative option with customers:

✅ Replace the complete knuckle assembly
✅ Renew all bushes at the same time
✅ Avoid paying labour twice in the future
✅ Reduce the risk of repeat suspension noises and tyre wear issues
✅ Achieve a more stable wheel alignment

Sometimes replacing a single bush appears cheaper initially, but when labour costs, reliability and long-term value are considered, replacing the complete knuckle can often be the more cost-effective solution.

The photos below show clear signs of bush deterioration, cracking and corrosion that are commonly found on higher-mileage Model 3s.

Recently, we’ve seen several Teslas with the same suspension issue… 🚨

What started as a minor knocking noise turned out to be much more serious once the suspension arms were removed and inspected.

In these cases, we found:

❌ Ball joint dust boots completely split
❌ Grease leaking out
❌ Water and dirt contamination inside the joint
❌ Suspension bushes starting to crack and deteriorate

Once the protective boot fails, moisture and road debris can enter the ball joint, accelerating wear and eventually creating excessive play in the suspension.

Common symptoms include:

🔹 Knocking noises over bumps
🔹 Clunks when turning
🔹 Uneven inner tyre wear
🔹 Loose or unstable steering feel at motorway speeds

While the issue may seem minor at first, continued use can lead to increased suspension wear, poor handling, and unnecessary tyre damage.

⚠️ One important point:
Not all suspension components are built to the same standard. Even parts that appear similar can vary significantly in material quality, sealing design, and lifespan.

Regular suspension inspections can often identify problems before they become expensive repairs.
