On Saturday we left our hotel in Colchester to travel to Braintree where we fitted a set of recharged Hydragas units to a now very rare late MG Metro Turbo Mk1. The car as always was badly in need of our work with the driving experience completely ruined with rigid and non compliant suspension. All went well and the customer was delighted with the results www.hahsltd.co.uk

We received this message from a customer who had there MGF units recharged in 2017

“Hi there Ian and Dawn. You repaired/regassed my MGF spheres in February 2017 and since then the car has been fine. We are preparing to take it to Italy at the end of September, but for us that's just a short run as we live in the south of France. The car will be 30 in March next year and as a result I will pass its registration over to "classic". Not bad for an old banger with 120K miles on the clock.

Just a short testament to the efficacity of your repair”

Today we left our hotel in Colchester to travel to Haverhill where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to a Maxi 2. We were greeted with a car with the suspension in a terrible state, it was absolutely rigid with a horrible ride and not safe to drive in the condition it was in. Despite a wet start we got on with the job and by mid afternoon it was all completed and riding beautifully. The customer was delighted with the results after taking it for a drive www.hahsltd.co.uk

We received this testimonial from a satisfied customer
“Hi Dawn,
Just wanted to say we sat in a pub in Laon northern France having done 450 miles. The best ride we have had in nine years owning Midge.
Thank you so much”

A busy day today, we left our hotel in Colchester to travel to our first job in Stowmarket which was to fit a set of recharged Hydragas units to a lovely MGF Trophy. It was badly let down by the suspension with a hard and crashy ride. All went well and we also cleared a blocked suspension pipe during the fitment. The customer was amazed at the results. From there we travelled to Boxford where we carried out a fluid top up on a VP1500 where we had already carried out a suspension fitment a number of years ago. One of the valve cores had been leaking and tightening it up rectified this. Heading for our third job which was to fit a rehosed Hydrolastic unit to a Wolseley 18/85S in Saffron Walden. We had previously fitted a rehosed front unit and had noted that two of the other units had been previously rehosed leaving one unit still with the original hose. The customer wanted this replacing and when we removed the original unit and saw its condition it was a good job he had booked us as it was on the verge of failing with the hose swelling up. It was clear that the unit had previous contamination with an oil based fluid, as well as damaging the hose, part of the rubber damper valve in the unit had been softened and had come adrift and was lodged in the end of the hose at the junction of the front to rear pipe blocking the hose. Also the diaphragm of the unit was saturated with oil and was breaking up. Our final job of the day was another recharged unit fitment to another MGF in Haverhill. Once again all went well with excellent results www.hahsltd.co.uk

Today we travelled to Feltwell in Norfolk where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to a much loved Rover Metro which was being let down by the suspension. There was no nitrogen left in the units and although the customer had his own suspension pump he was unable to raise it to a successful height due to the excessive fluid pressure. Even if the correct height had been attained the ride quality would have been no good. The job was soon completed with the suspension performance restored back to like new. The customer also had a rare Mini Clubman with Hydrolastic suspension. Hydrolastic was only ever fitted to the very first Clubman models. This one was in Antelope Beige. It had a leaking rear unit. We soon had one of our recharged and tested Hydrolastic units fitted and the suspension was up where it should be www.hahsltd.co.uk

On Wednesday we left our hotel early to travel to our first job in Rainham where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to an MGF. We then travelled to our second job in Enfield which was to carry out the same job to an Austin Metro Tickford. Both jobs went well and were soon completed with the customers being left extremely satisfied with the suspension and the way their cars drove after our work www.hahsltd.co.uk

Last night we travelled to Kent to stop in a hotel ready for today’s jobs. The first job was in Hastings to fit a set of recharged Hydragas units to an MGF which was badly in need of our work. The surface of the unadopted road where the customer lives is terrible and he’d given up driving it. Following our fitment he was able to drive along the rutted and broken up road surface as if it were nothing. He was delighted. From there we travelled to Ashford where we carried out the fitment of two full front to rear suspension pipes on an Austin 1300. We preformed the pipes in our workshop using a pair of originals as a pattern. The garage where the car is being worked on had removed the rear subframe, the steering rack and had lowered the front subframe by a couple of inches. All this is necessary to fit full front to rear pipes. The customer had bought some pipe on a roll previously but unfortunately the garage had struggled to bend it and had spoiled them. It’s not easy. Our pipes fitted very well aligning with all the original fitting tabs and the car can now be reassembled. The customer had already purchased four rehosed Hydrolastic units a couple of years ago from us. One of these was trial fitted and it married up to the new pipe perfectly www.hahsltd.co.uk

This week has been an MGF week. We have completed four fitments of recharged Hydragas units as well as selling a number of recharged units. The first fitment was on Tuesday in Swindon and then on Wednesday was a day of packing all the mail orders. We then travelled up North on Thursday to complete our first fitment in North Yorkshire, we then travelled further north to Darlington where we stayed in our hotel for the night. This morning we left our hotel to complete our first fitment in Darlington, we then travelled to Hornsea near Hull to complete our final MGF fitment of the week. All customers were delighted with the results and extremely happy with the service they received www.hahsltd.co.uk

We’ve had a really busy week this week with mobile fitments and mail orders. On Tuesday We completed two full fitments of recharged and tested Hydragas units to MGFs, one in Redditch and one in Finchampstead in Berkshire. We then collected 2 sets of Maxi Hydragas units from one of our regular breakers in Wokingham. Then on Thursday we completed two more full fitments of recharged Hydragas units to two MGFs, this time in Chesham and Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. Our final stop on Thursday was to collect 18 Hydragas units for Metros and MGFs from another breaker in Solihull for our stocks. Our final job of the week was on Friday which was a bit of an emergency job in Hyde. A few weeks ago the customer contacted us to say that he had hit a pothole and the OS rear Hydrolastic unit on his Wolseley Six had burst. We went out a couple of weeks ago to replace the damaged displacer but when we removed it we couldn’t find any obvious damage. On pumping the car up once the unit was replaced we discovered there was fluid coming from the front, on further inspection we discovered the front unit had burst and the bell had come away internally. We had to arrange to return to replace the front as we didn’t have one on us at the time. As the customer wanted to go to the Wolseley national rally this weekend we moved a few things around and got him in on Friday. We soon had the new displacer replaced and the car back up on its suspension, the customer was absolutely delighted that we managed to squeeze him in at the last minute. As well as doing the three days of mobile fitments we also sold various recharged Hydragas and rehosed Hydrolastic units. We also rehosed and tested a set of Hydrolastic units for a customer in USA who also bought one of our compact suspension pumps www.hahsltd.co.uk
