Yesterday we travelled to Frodsham in Cheshire where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to an MGF. Thankfully we had the benefit of a dry carport to work in as there was quite a lot of rain and wasn’t particularly warm. In a couple of hours the entire job was completed from start to finish with the ride and handling of the car transformed. On Friday we left our hotel early to travel to our first job in Birdham, West Sussex where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to an MGF Trophy. From there we travelled to Eastbourne where we carried out the same job on another MGF. Both cars benefitted greatly from our work. Our final job of the day was to carry out a full fitment on a lovely VP Metro in Sandalwood Beige. This car was desperately in need of our work, the ride was rigid and intolerable. The customer was delighted with the results. After another night in a hotel we travelled to Bisley in Surrey where we made and fitted a new suspension pipe and fitted the correct rear Hydragas units to a Mk2 Metro (a previous owner had fitted a pair of individualised Rover Metro units). We then completed a full fitment on another Mk2 Metro at the same location. The customer had offered us some spare units and we removed them from a scrap Metro and a pair of subframes he had. Finally we then travelled to Lichfield to collect a quantity of Hydragas units from one of our regular breakers. From there was our final journey home www.hahsltd.co.uk

Yesterday we left our hotel in Reading and travelled to New Milton where we removed all four Hydragas units from an Allegro that is being broken for spares. Having enough units to supply our customers has been one of the things that has helped our business to be incredibly successful over the last 16 years. From there we travelled to Christchurch where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to a lovely MGF. As always excellent results and completed in good time. Unfortunately the units removed from this car were in terrible condition with the fronts definitely scrap, this was caused by the car being used for too long with no nitrogen left in the units and also the wrong fluid being used. All cars with Hydragas suspension are of an age where recharged units are necessary www.hahsltd.co.uk

On Tuesday we travelled to Redditch where we carried out the fitment of a set of recharged Hydragas units to a lovely Rover 1.1s. All went well and the car soon had a lovely ride. We then travelled to one of our regular breakers, also in Redditch to collect a set of MGF units for our stocks. We then travelled to Nuneaton to look at a very early Mk1 Metro where we had already replaced the Hydragas units. The front left hand suspension was making a creaking noise and the customer was almost certain that it was the knuckle joint under the displacer. We depressurised the fluid and removed the Hydragas unit, we then removed the suspect knuckle joint. It turned out that the nylon cup had eroded away at the bottom and there was metal to metal contact between the ball end of the joint and the arm itself. The customer had a new joint assembly and this was soon fitted, the suspension pumped up again and the noise eradicated. From there we went to our final job of the day in Kettering where we carried out another full fitment to a Metro Mk2. This was soon completed and again with excellent results www.hahsltd.co.uk

Today we left our hotel in Exeter to drive a few miles to our first job which was to fit a set of recharged Hydragas units to an MGF. The owner is a previous customer of ours and the Maxi we did for him was sitting proudly in the street, almost as if to welcome us. The MGF was already jacked up and on stands as the customer was carrying out other work to it. The job went very well and we were soon on our way to our second job in Totnes which was to carry out the same work on another MGF. We were working outside and it rained a bit but we got on with the job and it was soon completed, giving the car an excellent ride and handling www.hahsltd.co.uk

Yesterday was a very busy day for us with three mobile fitments to three lovely cars. The first was a Metro City in Clove Brown in Henley-on-Thames. The suspension was rigid and very uncomfortable. The full fitment was soon completed and this lovely car is very comfortable to drive. We then travelled to High Wycombe where our second job was another fitment to an MGF. This one had been driven around too long with a hard ride and this had caused a rear unit to fail, rendering the car undriveable. Within a couple of hours the suspension was sitting as it should with the car now lovely to drive. Our final job was a beautiful MGF Trophy back in Telford. Once the job got underway it was apparent that the aperture in one of the rear pipes was blocked and we were unsuccessful in our attempts to drill out the blockage. We always carry spare pipes and we replaced this and then all four units. In completion the customer took the car for a drive and was amazed at the difference our work had brought about www.hahsltd.co.uk
