More remote programming this week and utilising the Jaguar/Landrover dealer tool to carry out a new amplifier control module programming! The brand new amplifier in this vehicle had no audio output until we got on the job and programmed it all in successfully from our workshop over 400 miles away!

We recently had a 2005 1.9TDI Renault Trafic come into the workshop with a customer complaint of lack of power during acceleration, and the engine would not rev beyond 2,500 RPM.

We started with a full system scan, but there were no fault codes stored. We then moved on to live data analysis using the scan tool. The fuel rail pressure (desired vs. actual) was spot on, but boost pressure was extremely low.

Next, we carried out smoke tests and turbo actuator testing. Both tests confirmed there were no boost leaks, and the turbocharger itself was operating correctly.

At this stage, we began to suspect an exhaust restriction. The lack of power and minimal boost pressure pointed toward the engine struggling to expel exhaust gases. To confirm this, we used the DITEX PDS500 in-cylinder pressure sensor while performing a wide-open throttle test with the engine running to properly load the system.

The results were exactly what we expected — 36 psi of exhaust back pressure at peak, indicating a severely restricted exhaust system.

This particular vehicle does not have a DPF, only a catalytic converter. We removed the exhaust system for inspection and confirmed our suspicion: the catalyst had melted and become heavily restricted.

After installing a new catalytic converter, the vehicle is now running perfectly and back to full power.
Another win for the DITEX PDS500 — without it, diagnosing this fault would have been far more difficult!

Nice and fairly straightforward job for a change!

We recently had in a Ford Kuga with multiple electrical faults including multiple external light failures, central locking failures and multiple warning lights illuminated on the dash display.

We scanned the vehicle and the only faults that were present were relating to no communication with various control modules.
Assuming all of these circuits were Body Control Module related we simply opted for a nice and easy approach of removing and inspecting the BCM for water damage and sure enough! Look what we found!

Replacement Body Control Module Diagnosed & Programmed. Vehicle now operating as it should.
