County Classics Motor Museum Patrick Hawkins the founder and chairman of County Classics Motor Museum of Taunton, Somerset enjoyed a huge passion and love for motor vehicles.

At the age of just 11 years, he bought and sold his first car happily spending time repairing and restoring a vehicle that needed to be brought back to life. This passion continued throughout his career , which was always in the motor trade and included owning a successful wholesale and retail tyre business. An avid collector of cars and motorcycles it was always a dream one day he would fulfil his ambition to open a car museum in Taunton his hometown. to share his passion and to give something back to Taunton. The exhibits on show will predominantly range from late 1950's to the 1980's for motor vehicles and motorcycles from 1915 to the 1980's, there is even a aeroplane bought on a whim it is also on display. A few of the exhibits include, Ford Es**rt Rally car once owned by Marcus Gronholm another Ex Works Ford Es**rt Group A Rally car that was Mark Lovell's first ever works car a Porsche 924 record braking car as drive by Tony Dron, Andy Rouse and Win Percy a Ford Mustang Mach 1 Cobra Jet a E Type Jaguar Villiers 1964 off road motor bike and a BSA Shooting Star and many, many more. There is a onsite café open to the public offering a array of drinks, light lunches and snacks, there is also a gift shop situated in the entrance lobby, selling motoring memorabilia, souvenirs and car care products. The museum is run on a not for profit basis and is a registered charity and the number is 11889611A

🚗 COUNTY CLASSICS MOTOR MUSEUM AT TAUNTON CARNIVAL 2026! 🏍️

What a fantastic time we had supporting the Taunton Twinning Association at Taunton Carnival on Saturday, 17th October 2026! 🎊

It was wonderful to be part of such a brilliant local event. The carnival was well attended, the atmosphere was fantastic, and it was a great success! A big thank you to everyone involved in organising the carnival and to all those who came out to support it. 👏❤️

The cars often hit the headlines here at the Museum, we know from feedback that our over 150 classic motorcycles impress the two wheeled community. Patrick Hawkins our founder had a favourite and it was his beautiful Sunbeam on the first floor. Come have a look around and choose your favourite. Have you visited us lately, we had a few changes and additions, so much to see from Scalextrics, bicycles, too mopeds and of course cars. One of the cars now in, is Patrick’s favourites, the extremely low mileage and original MK1 Capri 3.0 GXLR.
So why not pop in and when your in, upgrade to an annual ticket, which means you can then visit as often as you want and then never miss anything new.

Always something new too see. We have been kindly loaned a very early Excelsior motorcycle, with great links to Taunton history, this motorcycle has touched many lives in Taunton and close surrounding areas, we don’t want to spoil the story so pop in and see this latest exhibit and read the extremely interesting history on the information board. It is located in our recreation of a 1920’s 1930’s garage.
We are open 9.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Saturday.

If you have never visited us, why not pop in, the award winning County Cafe is open to all, you do not need an admission ticket and gives you a chance to experience the fabulous atmosphere and view some of the exhibits from the Cafe.
Should you be a regular you will know there are changes and additions to our exhibits, recently we have been working hard to improve access to the exhibits. We open Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4.00pm we look forward to welcoming you.

We always have interesting additions to our exhibits and not just cars and motorcycles. We have some exciting and rare cycle additions, we have a tandem with a trailer and these were specifically designed for holiday camps, this particular example was used at Pontin’s in Brean.
Then there is the first Raleigh cycle with front suspension.
There is an extensive range of cycles around the Museum, including some of the very earliest examples.
A reminder we are open Tuesday to and including Saturday 9.30am to 4.00pm, we look forward to sharing these and all the other exhibits with you.
