Here's a question for you....

Every year most will spend a few hundred pounds to get their car serviced. This keeps it in good working order but very rarely does the car feel any different to drive, right?

So, imagine for the same amount of money having your car cosmetically restored from top to bottom.

It might only be dirt and a few decades of ware and tear, but professionally removed and the damage put right, you'll feel like you've just bought a new car!

A car and customer we know well, but this time it's been sent in for a bit of a treat.

Whilst the light paint finish may be forgiving on this stunning BMW M3, as the flaws become more prevalent on your pride & joy there's only one thing for it... Paint correction and a durable 5yr ceramic coating to give the car depth, gloss and amazing shine that even brand new cars lack.

After a full week of interior and exterior work, hair line swirls covering the car have all been removed, the carbon polished up, pillars restored, and the interior refreshed to look like new once more.

Another happy customer, and another beautiful car protected to look its best for many years to come.

Whilst supercar ownership may only be a dream for many, second hand supercars provide a much more accessible opportunity to buy or invest into, which in time could see a far greater return than buying new.

Cars of this pedigree do however need be professionally maintained, (both mechanically and cosmetically) in order to increase their potential value in the longterm.

In the case of this Lamborghini, 15 years of regular washing have lead to a heavily damaged paintwork, as well as a cream leather interior in need of a deep clean.

During the course of 8 days we began a full clean up, spending close to 4 days just cutting thousands of defects from Lamborghini's exceptionally hard black paint. We then machine polished the car back to a mirror finish (whilst being very mindful of unique matte black details found around the car!)

The end result, another supercar returned to showroom condition and it's value much increased.

Sell your car in just 48hrs!

Well that's certainly quite a statement, but for the right car, with the right level of prep, the promise of "first to see will buy" is often true, and was in the case of this Porsche Boxster we prepared for a customer last Friday
(and sold by Sunday morning!) 😊

Given the car for just 24hrs, we swiftly detailed it from top to bottom, extracted years of embedded dirt from within the softop, cleaned and then chemically cleansed the body and wheels, even restored the faded headlights to look like new.

All in all, a challenge accepted and completed with great success for another very happy customer.

When buying cars of this pedigree second hand from a specialist showroom, or sometimes even new from the factory, delivery condition is very rarely flawless, which can be disappointing.

And so we come to the end of another highly successful week, having transformed this Porsche 997 Carrera S.

Having rarely been garaged, UV rays from the sun had weathered both the paint and plastics to varying extent.

A week in our care and the car has now been restored and protected against the elements using premium grade chemicals, clays, polishes, dyes and ceramics coatings.

With a finish now on par with most new Porsches, few may realise this well used car is over 15 years old!

This week at Grand Desires....
It's the superb Porsche 997
Carrera S.

Whilst originally booked in for a simple claybar and machine polish to restore its showroom shine, we'll also be discussing other services we offer, which in the case of this 911 will save the owner thousands in the longterm!

Starting off, we inspect the car, cleaning out the aircon condensers (located behind the front bumper). As every 997 owner knows, these are notorious for failing due to corrosion caused by leaves and debris stuck at the base of the rad. Failure is common and can cost around £1500 a pair to replace!

Next up, we'll be removing restoring the headlights, fog lights and tail lights. Now 15 years old, stone chips and UV rays have damaged each of the lights quite significantly, and could soon be classed as an MOT failure!
For a replacement set on this Porsche you could be looking at as much as £2500, but with just a day of our time these can be restored to near perfect clarity once more.

The plastic wiper surround too is now grey and heavily faded. We test our dye on a small section to compare and colour match before redying the whole surround later on the week.

Our final job of the day, a pre-clean and chemical cleanse of the wheels, calipers and hubs. Whilst the car was brought to us newly cleaned by the owner, the chemical reaction (turning pink) shows just how much more dirt and contamination we can remove than many car owners, or the local hand car wash! The results of this process have longterm benefits too.

We'll return again at the end of the week with a follow up post, showing our work in more detail and the transformation of the car as a whole.

Earlier in the week we began working on this classic Porsche 911.

Having only just purchased the car this month, the owner was initially a little disappointed as the finish was flat and dull, with an interior that needed work also.

Left in our care, the exterior white paint and wheels were heavily degreased of contaminants output by the carbs, the car then washed, the paint cleansed & rejuvenated, and finally machine polished and waxed.

The wheels too were hand polished and the interior thoroughly detailed.

Driving any car of this age it's expected that things won't be perfect. But, a few days with us however, things can start to look very different indeed!

Today at Grand Desires... we detail a cassette tape storage unit!!! 😃

In the coming days we'll be transforming this 1988 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, inside and out.

First off today, we begin with a thorough inspection, then the removal of carpets to make deep cleaning easier. Next we detail every inch of the interior from safety belts to air vents, ash trays to seat runners, pedals to instruments (more on this tomorrow).

Looking at the exterior it was evident the white paint on both the body and wheels had turned a dull grey-yellow colour, suggesting heavy contamination from decade old engine oils and petrol (often released by the carburetors on older cars), with this clinging to the body.

The final task of our first day was to degrease the entire body before we perform an exterior wash and detail tomorrow.
