Intriguing dpf fault on this Mercedes E class.

The car was initially presented for a dpf assessment due to a warning message on the dash.

Unusually, other than the fact that the dpf was actually blocked, we couldn’t find any other faults.

We ask our dpf customers to fill in a questionnaire about their cars history and their driving habits , as part of our assessment. This revealed that the problems started after the car had received an “adblue solution” at another garage.

The cars software had been badly altered to remove an adblue fault, but had triggered issues with the dpf system.

Using our tuning tools, and with the help of Avon Tuning, we were able to reset the software back to original, and repair the faults.

The car was then returned to the customer for a few weeks, but returned today for a free follow up assessment to check no further issues are pending.

We had this Nissan Juke in with a reported DPF fault.

The initial code read showed a fault with the dpf pressure sensor, however our in depth assessment showed that the sensor was working correctly, and the dpf was actually clear and didn’t need cleaning.

We fixed the underlying fault, then carried out an extended road-test to prove that there were no more issues with the vehicle.

Didn’t require a sensor, didn’t require a clean.

A very tidy Vauxhall Vivaro in for dpf assessment today.

When the customer answered our pre-assessment questions, we were almost sure this wasn’t going to be a dpf issue.

Carrying out our assessment confirmed our suspicions.

The key part of our job is not just reading the fault codes, but measuring and interpreting actual real life data.

This vehicle had been “diagnosed” at two other garages before coming to us.

There is a reason we insist on carrying out our own vehicle assessment, it’s much more than just plugging in a code reader.

Volkswagen Caddy in for assessment due to dpf, engine management, and glow plug lights on.

The only fault code present was for regeneration duration.

During our initial assessment and roadtest we found a cooling system fault that was actually the cause of the dpf issues.

Fault fixed, and an extended roadtest, the dpf carried out its own regeneration, no clean necessary.

COVID lockdown January 21.

Following the announcement of a nationwide lockdown, we would like to assure you, that under the current rules, we will be staying open.

At the moment the MOT system is still fully operational, I will post any changes if they happen.

If you have a booking and do not want to venture out, please let us know as soon as possible, we will postpone any appointments until lockdown is lifted.

We will still be operating our vehicle collection and delivery service, as contactless and distanced as we can. If you would like your vehicle collected, please give us a call.

This BMW had already had two dpf cleans at other garages.

It was presented to us in limp home mode with a suspected blocked dpf.

During our initial diagnostic assessment we confirmed that the dpf was indeed severely restricted, so we dug a little deeper to find the actual cause of the fault.

We found no less than four faults that would cause the dpf to block, all of these had been overlooked by the previous cleaners.

Why should you pay for a diagnostic health check?
Because in the long run, it’s cheaper to fix the faults first time.
