We’re currently looking for Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Apprentices to join our Press & Assembly Department!

After your initial training, you’ll spend one day a week in our Academy working with our experienced trainers, with the rest of your week on the shop floor developing valuable hands-on manufacturing skills.

Whist we were on our shutdown, our Assembly and Press Maintenance teams were hard at work carrying out vital servicing, repairs and improvement activities across the plant.

Assembly Maintenance:

👉TRUMPF annual laser servicing – completed by our technicians
👉FANUC robot greasing
👉Sensor upgrades to Keyence AI Vision Systems
👉Air leak survey using a Fluke thermal imaging camera
👉FANUC robot replacement
👉Dry icing of jigs to remove spatter

Press Maintenance

👉1500T HP activities – servicing and repairs
👉Bureau Veritas activities and LOLER press rising screen inspections
👉Clutch and brake inspections – 1200Prg / 350B / 400B2
👉400B2 clutch spider repair
👉Hydraulic servicing activities
👉Carrier overhauls on AIDA presses
👉Destack overhauls on Front Line presses
👉H&F mechanical repairs

During our shutdown, members of our Assembly department organised a charity football match in support of a colleague who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

We’re incredibly proud to share that the event raised a whopping £10,130, which will go towards supporting him and his family.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, took part, donated, or supported it in any way.

Congratulations to Gary Vaughan, Michael Knight, and James Miller from Assembly Maintenance on successfully completing the GMTC Basic Level Trainer Training Course in Japan.

This is a fantastic achievement and demonstrates their commitment to continuous learning and development.

They will return to Japan in October to complete the Intermediate Level course, which will further develop their skills and support the important work they do at Unipres.

On Saturday we hosted the annual Unipres Golf Day at Slaley Hall.

This was a fantastic day on the Hunting course which was followed by a lunch and presentation for the winners.

Congratulations to our latest cohort of employees on successfully completing the First Aid at Work course, delivered in-house by our Health & Safety Team.

In a factory of our size, having a strong network of trained First Aiders across the site is essential to helping keep everyone safe. We're proud to see more colleagues equipped with the knowledge and confidence to respond when it matters most.

A huge congratulations to Luke O'Connor from Die Maintenance on winning the Project of the Year Award at Hartlepool College of Further Education!

Luke competed against all of the apprentice and HNC students and became the first apprentice from Unipres to win this award.

A fantastic achievement and a testament to your hard work, dedication, and commitment. Well done, Luke!
