Ford Transit EcoBlue, Wet Belt Replacement & Vacuum Pump.
Customer Complaint:
Vehicle presented with a hard brake pedal.
Upon inspection, the wet timing belt was found to be deteriorating. Belt debris had contaminated and blocked the vacuum pump, resulting in vacuum pump failure and loss of brake servo assistance.
Work Carried Out:
- Removed and replaced the wet timing belt system.
- Removed and replaced the failed vacuum pump.
- Replaced the oil pump drive belt and oil strainer.
- Removed and replaced the sump and timing casing cover.
- Replaced crank seal and crank bolt
- Replaced auxiliary drive belts.
- Renewed engine oil and coolant.
- Reassembled and carried out all necessary checks.
Parts Replaced:
1. Genuine wet belt timing kit.
2. Genuine oil pump drive belt.
3. Genuine oil strainer.
4. Genuine crankshaft bolt.
5. Timing casing cover complete with crankshaft seal.
6. Sump.
7. Engine oil.
8. Oil filter.
9. Auxiliary drive belts – x2.
10. Coolant.
11. Vacuum pump *aftermarket replacement*.
A genuine wet belt timing kit and genuine associated components were used. An aftermarket vacuum pump was selected as a more cost effective alternative to the genuine Ford part, helping to keep the overall repair cost down for the customer.
Following completion, the engine was checked for correct operation, oil leaks and coolant leaks. Vacuum pump operation and brake servo assistance were checked to ensure normal braking assistance had been restored.
