MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (Tuesday 1st - Friday 4th September 2026).
Another month starts with rain, after the long hot days of summer. Hope you had a good Bank Holiday weekend.
Tuesday starts with good intent, a low shower risk and sunny intervals. Winds generally south westerly and light. Rain becomes increasingly likely around lunch time, as risk rises to 50% for a couple of hours then takes on a rollercoaster effect, dropping during the afternoon before rising to 30% during the late evening. More persistent rain may come along around midnight. Temperatures will range from 11c at dawn, rising to 20c then falling to 16c by midnight.
Wednesday could be duck weather, with forecasts of a 60% - 70% risk of rain until late in the afternoon. There should be breaks in the rain with sunny intervals. Winds generally south westerly and very lively, with gusts topping 30mph at times. Late afternoon sees more chance of drier interludes. Temperatures ranging from 16c at dawn to 21c during the afternoon. By midnight, it'll be a sticky 18c with 91% humidity.
Thursday will be the best day, with shower risk 20% at worst throughout the day. Plenty of opportunity for good sunny periods, as that south west to westerly airflow rattles along with strong gusts in the middle part of the day. Temperatures 18c at dawn; 20c/22c during the afternoon, then dropping to 18c again at midnight.
Friday is looking largely overcast with little chance of sunshine and varying levels of cloud. Rain is likely, with shower risk at 40%-50% throughout. Nothing special to commend it, other than fairly level temperatures; 18c/21c/17c (dawn/mid-afternoon/midnight). Winds identical to the Thursday data; Strength slightly less but still gusty at times and remaining south west to westerly.
No sign of that September heatwave the popular press is talking about yet. We'll see.😎
Have a good week. Take special care in the wet conditions.

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (August Bank Holiday 29th/31st August 2026).
My predictions are realised. Sorry if you're going anywhere for the weekend; We are going to see rain in quite a few places, and sometimes in quantity.
Saturday will see rain from early in the day. Risk will range from >95%, falling to

23/08/2026

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (24th - 28th August 2026).
Rain is definitely coming this week. Expect short sharp bursts or thundery downpours. I'll detail the daily risk as usual.
Monday will be dry with a 5% chance of rain. Winds easterly with a noticeable breeze. Generally sunny with light cloud. Temperatures ranging from 11c/12c at dawn, to between 21c and 24c during the afternoon, then dropping back to 15c/16c at midnight.
Tuesday shows the first signs of a change. More cloudy than Monday; Still sunny intervals but a 10% to 30% chance of showers driven on that easterly airflow. Rain could occur at any time during the day. Temperatures will range from 12c to 14c at dawn, rising to 24c/25c during the afternoon. By midnight, it will be quite warm with 18c expected. A good scenario for thunder.
Wednesday is giving indications of rain early on, with risk at 60% around dawn, decreasing quietly to 20% in the afternoon, then

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (22nd/23rd August 2026).
Our first bit of proper rain has fallen, although in short bursts. The weekend should remain dry in Stroud District.
Saturday is forecast as having light cloud with sunny intervals. Winds very light and generally north westerly. Chance of precipitation

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (17th - 21st August 2026).
The beginning of the big end???🌀 Could be rain this week....not anything sharp or heavy, but probably showers creeping in.
Monday starts cloudy with a shower risk of 30%, depleting as the day moves into the afternoon. Fully dry afternoon is forecast. Sunny periods more definite in the PM. Winds light and north west backing south west, rising from very light to a breeze after lunchtime. Temperatures 17c/18c at dawn, rising to the mid-20's by late afternoon before subsiding back to 18c by midnight.
Tuesday is marked as cloudy again at dawn, and this is shown at 30% shower risk once more. Probably a more hazy day after that with less full sun and just occasional glimpses. Possibility of rain stays, but more like dribbles than anything sincere. Winds west south-west to west north-west with plenty of breeze. Temperatures 18c at dawn, rising to 22c/24c before dropping to 17c by midnight.
Wednesday is indecisive with patchy cloud and some sunshine, but a varying shower risk of between 10% and 30%. Wind direction well defined at west south-west, chipping along with rising speed during the day; The odd 30mph gust is possible. Cooler, with 13c/14c at dawn, rising to no more than 22c during the afternoon. A better evening with 14c/15c expected at midnight.
Thursday looks like the day. Rain expected, with risk between 50% and 60% throughout. Cloud and probably less sunshine than recently. Winds light and south westerly, moving to north west by day's end. Temperatures 13c/14c at dawn, rising to 19c/20c during the afternoon before dropping back to 14c by midnight.
Friday, and winds move to light and northerly, heralding another uncertain day regarding rain and cloud cover. Lowest risk 30%, Highest 50%. Don't take it as read; Probably cloud and sunny periods. Temperatures 11c at dawn, rising to 19c/20c, before falling to 13c at midnight. A much more normal summer's day.
I'm still betting on a wet August Bank Holiday weekend. Time will tell.
Have a good week. Take care.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (15th/16th August 2026).
It's Friday afternoon, and thankfully some of the smoke haze from Wales has dissipated after the very obvious blueness of the morning; Quite visible from high ground.
Saturday is looking more cloudy with some breaks for sunny intervals, but little or no sign of anything damp coming along. Wind direction will be generally northerly with a good breeze, which is encouraging for a little coolness if you call 25c cooler? That's the expected afternoon high, with another sticky night from Friday into Saturday at 16c/18c. By midnight Saturday, figures will be 14c/15c.
Sunday will be very similar, with fully dry conditions expected and the same scenario of cloud cover with sunny intervals. Wind will remain northerly until late in the day, when direction will veer to north west. There will be less actual air movement, with just a light breeze apparent. Temperatures should be a much more pleasant 9c at dawn, following a rapid drop from the previous day's figures. However, afternoon highs of around 25c are still on the cards, followed by another warm evening leaving us with 14c at midnight.
Currently, the time most likely to produce any cloud leakage will be early next week, but more detail about that on Sunday evening.
Have a great weekend. Ride safe.

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (10th - 14th August 2026).
Well, this year certainly makes a change from predicting rain. Still staying very warm with little change.
For most of the week we can expect little or no significant cloud cover. Current information shows a weak low front crossing the country, but anything rain-bearing is unlikely. The most I've seen for risk of showers is late in the week, and that only 10%.
So I'll deal with wind direction, strength and temperatures for each day in that order.
Monday: Wind light and westerly, backing northerly later. Temperatures 14c/15c at dawn, rising to 24c/25c then dropping back to 15c/16c at midnight. Clear skies predicted apart from some smoke haze coming across from Wales.
Tuesday: Wind light and south easterly for the most part, producing a gentle breeze. Temperatures ranging from 13c/15c at dawn, rising to 27c to 29c during the afternoon. By midnight, it'll still be a warm at 17c to 19c. Clear skies for the day once again.
Wednesday: Wind light and east south-easterly, backing southerly after sunset. Temperatures ranging from 12c to 14c at dawn, rising to a steady 32c during the afternoon. Midnight figure is expected to be 21c. Cloudless skies forecast.
Thursday: Virtually identical to Wednesday, with clear skies and a light variable easterly wind doing a 180 degree, and finishing the day coming from the west. Temperatures will start the day at 15c, then rise again to give an afternoon high of 32c, or even 33c. Midnight will be another toasty 21c again.
Friday is the only day showing a possibility of cloud cover at this time. If there is some it'll be minimal, otherwise sunshine as usual. Wind north westerly and light. Temperatures at dawn should be around 18c, rising to 28c during the afternoon before falling back to 16c/17c at midnight. The present picture shows Friday as the day most likely to see any rain activity. Shower risk is only 10%, but after a hot couple of days we might see some random thunderstorms.
When will the weather break? In 1976 it was right on August Bank Holiday here. It's the usual joke for British weather. We'll have to wait and see.😎
Have a good week. Don't get overheated and drink plenty.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (8th/9th August 2026).
As I write this, it promises perfect conditions for the Roadrunner 'Bike Night. The weekend will follow in a similar vein, with just a very minor chance of the odd light shower.
Saturday will be largely cloudless with winds definitely omnidirectional and light, producing a pleasant breeze to take the edge off the heat. Morning temperatures start around a lowly 8c, but build proportionally through the afternoon to 27c, following which figures will slowly drop away to around 17c by midnight. Another mild night.
Sunday is largely similar, but the wind will become more established from a generally westerly direction by middle afternoon. The morning air will be fairly static until the afternoon when a light breeze will become apparent. Mostly clear skies, but the forecast is still saying there's a 10% shower risk before dawn; Probably nothing we'll notice hereabouts. Temperatures range from 13c at dawn, rising through the day to hit 28c/29c by the mid afternoon. The evening will remain warm, with 17c again being the expected temperature at midnight.
We're not done with the hot weather yet!
Have a brilliant weekend. More weather news on Sunday night. Take care on the roads.
