MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (19th - 23rd October 2026).
The first reports of a light frost from two sources this weekend. One local and another in Devizes. (Very early Saturday before dawn).
Monday is expected to start with rain which should be depleting by sunup. Following that, a nice day with light cloud and sunny intervals. Some chance of drizzle after dusk, but nothing serious. Winds batting from the east; Not too breezy but producing temperatures of 7c/8c at dawn, rising to 13c/14c before dropping back to 9c at midnight.
Tuesday is forecast to be very much a day of light rain for most places, only relinquishing it's grip during the afternoon. A chance of dusk being sunny, but otherwise fairly dull. Winds dithering around omnidirectionally, and not producing much real air movement. Temperatures 8c/9c at dawn, moving up to just 12c during the afternoon. By midnight, expect 7c to 8c.
Wednesday looks very erratic with a mix of light rain and occasional sunny intervals, moved along more positively on a westerly airflow, gusting to the high 20's(mph) at times. With luck, the afternoon may be dry in some locations. Temperatures 7c to 9c at dawn, rising to 11c/12c during the afternoon. By midnight, we will be looking at 5c to 7c, according to exposure.
Thursday is another wet or damp start, followed by what should be a sunny morning giving rise to cloud cover later. Shower risk rises following dusk, with some persistent rain expected around midnight. Winds varying from light south south-westerly to south south-easterly as the day progresses. Temperatures (Dawn/Afternoon/Midnight) 7c/14c/13c; Deduct 2c for wind chill.
Friday, and guess what? Another wet start, quickly reducing to rapid localised and random showers driven on a strong westerly wind. Gusts may exceed 40mph in places. Sunny intervals. Temperatures 9c to 12c at dawn. 9c to 12c during the afternoon before falling to 4c to 7c at midnight, according to exposure.
So cooling down, but not too suddenly. Have a good week. Ride safe.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (17th/18th October 2026).
It's Friday night, and you'll have noticed a drop in temperature since the afternoon. Don't Panic! 😎
Saturday will feature the first taste of cooler conditions. It'll stay dry, with a north west to north north-easterly breeze which will be noticeable at times. At dawn we will be looking at temperatures around 4c/5c. Maximum daytime temperature won't get any better than 13c, with a deduction of 2c for wind chill. By midnight, still air will see a figure of 5c on the mercury. It should be very sunny in the AM, followed by some light cloud moving in during the afternoon, but not impinging on the sunshine too much.
Sunday will be slightly less sunny with conditions similar to those of Friday (16th). A possibility of those little 'picky' bit's of rain, with a mix of cloud and sunny intervals. Nothing to drown you for definite. Shower risk picks up during the afternoon from 10% to 20%, gradually ascending to around 50% before the witching hour. Temperatures will range from 4c at dawn to 13c during the afternoon. Not quite so chilly at midnight, with 7c/8c forecast. That northerly airflow will be noticeable, affecting daylight temperatures with up to 3c of wind chill.

MOTOCYCLE WEATHER (12th - 16th October 2026).
Nothing new really. No snowstorms as the popular media might have you believe.
Monday looks like a dull affair, with an expectation for some drizzly or light rain throughout the day. Any sunny intervals will be transient and very brief. Winds light to moderate, south east backing south south-west, then southerly later. Temperatures fairly stable, with 12c/14c at dawn, rising to 19v during the afternoon before dropping back to 16c at midnight.
Tuesday looks better with some shower activity until lunch time. This should give way to a brighter afternoon with lighter cloud and sunny intervals. We could finish the day with clear skies. Winds lively, producing fresh south west to westerly gusts particularly during the middle of the day. Things will quieten down after dusk. Temperatures will start with 16c/17c at dawn, and will not rise significantly higher in the daylight hours. By midnight, 10c will be on the dial.
Wednesday will be a good day, with clear skies at dawn and a cool 9c/10c on the thermometer. So, sunny to start, with some cloud running in later but hopefully producing a dry and breezy afternoon. Winds again swinging from south west to south south-east, and back again after dusk. Temperatures 16c to 18c at best, falling back to 13c to 15c at midnight.
Thursday is forecast to be another windy day, with south west to westerly winds gusting to the mid-20's(mph) and perhaps 30mph+. A mix of light cloud and sunny intervals during the morning will give way to cloudy skies, and up to a 50% shower risk during the afternoon. Temperatures around 15c at dawn, rising to no more than 19c, before falling to 13c at midnight.
Friday will see a change affecting the weekend. It's looking like a fair day with light cloud and sunny intervals, but possibly a damp start following overnight drizzle. Light winds will switch from west to north north-westerly, heralding a cooler start to the weekend. With temperatures at 9c at dawn, figures will not rise above 14c during the afternoon. By midnight we will be looking at 5c to 6c. A hint of winter. Don't panic! No definite long range information yet.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (10th/11th October 2026).
I've been sampling the windy weather and short, sharp showers today (Friday). Very random they were too over short distances. Saturday may be similar but less showery.
So beginning with Saturday AM, we should see temperatures around 7c to 10c with clearing skies and damp surfaces. Winds will be westerly and fresh to strong at times with rain intermittent, and no worse than a 30% to 40% shower risk around lunch time. This should tail off, with just the odd sprinkle of the wet stuff during an otherwise pleasant afternoon with sunny intervals and light cloud. It won't be that warm with afternoon highs of around 11c/14c. By midnight we'll be looking at 7c to 9c as the winds drops.
Sunday is expected to be the best day for us riders, with not particularly sunny conditions (probably more cloud than anything else) as the wind falls lighter and wanders the bottom half of the compass. Nonetheless, it should be reasonably dry until later in the day. Temperatures will range from around 8c at dawn, rising to 15c at very best, before reducing to 12c at midnight. Expect changeable conditions if you travel further afield than Stroud District.

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (5th - 9th October 2026)
Good weekend? Dry enough? The coming week looks as fair as the last one regarding rainfall, so it's not all bad.
Monday will be dry with light cloud and sunny intervals. Winds light and south west to west south-westerly. Gusts may reach 20mph at times. Temperatures will range from 14c at dawn, rising to 20c at best during the afternoon. At midnight figures should be around 13c.
Tuesday may have a misty start with local fog patches before dawn. Thereafter we are expecting some brighter skies until mid-day, following which there is an increasing risk of light showery rain and general overcast. By evening the likelihood of showers increases, and light rain is expected to continue into the following morning. Temperatures will be steadied by omnidirectional winds, with light air movement. Expect 12c at dawn, rising to 20c during the afternoon before dropping back to 12c/13c at midnight.
Wednesday will be wet or quite damp to begin with. Light rain of some persistence is expected until just before lunch time. So cloudy with the prospect of sunny intervals coming along during the afternoon. Winds generally north to north-westerly and gusting to to high 20's(mph) intermittently. Temperatures 11c at dawn, rising to 12c/14c during the afternoon. At midnight, 7c to 9c is forecast.
Thursday does have shower warnings but nothing significant. Probably a dry day in the district with light cloud and breaks for sunny intervals. Winds west north-west and quite lively, reducing and backing south south-westerly after dusk. Temperatures 6c/8c at dawn, rising to highs of 13c/15c during the afternoon, before falling back to 7c/8c at midnight.
Friday is expected to have another damp start following light rain, Things are set to improve during the afternoon, but the shower risk never goes completely away. Winds southerly, backing westerly and gusting to the mid-20's(mph) allowing some sunny intervals at times. Temperatures 9c at dawn, rising to 17c at best, then falling back to 11c at midnight.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (3rd/4th October 2026).
The Jetstream is favouring better weather for us here in the south of the UK. Cloudy stuff is mostly wafting heavy bursts of rain over the northwest, so all the better for us.
Saturday has some light rain forecast before dawn which should dissipate nicely, and leave us with a fine day. It could be a brilliantly sunny afternoon, with light winds orbiting the compass points, so that by day's end we will have seen a full 360 degree change in direction. Temperatures will be 15c at dawn, rising to 19c at best, before falling back to 10c at midnight. Late evening may see some mist patches running into the following morning.
Sunday may be affected by continuing early mist and fog patches in some locations. By mid morning it should be wall to wall clear skies with associated sunshine. Winds will again be lazily moving from a easterly direction to finish the day coming from the west and again, there will be little noticeable breeze. Temperatures will run from 8c at dawn, rising to a maximum of 20c before dropping to 14c at midnight.
We are very lucky. No serious autumnal weather yet. If this keeps up we'll be bathing in a bucket next year...🤨

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (28th September - 2nd October 2026).
A mix of conditions this week with some rain, but on current experience nothing to drown us.
Monday will be dry with some pleasant sunshine and light cloud. Winds light and generally easterly. Temperatures 7c/8c at dawn, rising to 18c/19c during the afternoon. By late evening we'll be back down with 11c/13c expected.
Tuesday could be dry again. There is a minor risk of showers, but nothing significant. Expect some cloudy conditions and perhaps mist patches at dawn, slowly dissipating to light cloud and sunny intervals, as the east to southeast wind picks up some speed and gusts to the mid-20's(mph). Temperatures 14c/15c at dawn; 23c/25c during the afternoon, then dropping down to 19c/20c at midnight. Quite mild.
Wednesday is forecast to have some rain at the beginning of the day. Risk is at 80%-90% around dawn, gradually falling back to 10%-20% after lunch time. There could be quite a pleasant afternoon with clearing conditions and sunshine. Winds will be lively, south south-east varying to south and south south-westerly at times. Temperatures 17c/19c at dawn, minimally rising to 19c/20c during the afternoon. At midnight 13c/14c is expected.
Thursday. I'll stick my neck out and say dry. Shower risk is minimal, and I think Stroud district won't be affected. Winds a light breeze, varying from southeast to southwest by evening. We will probably have a day of mixed cloud and good sunny intervals. Temperatures (Dawn/Afternoon/Midnight) 11c/18c-19c/10c.
Friday. Once again I'll say dry. Sunshine and light cloud, driven on a very light southeast to south-westerly airflow. Temperatures range from 8c/9c at dawn, to 18c/19c during the afternoon. At midnight, expect 11c.
Don't be surprised by sudden changes which may be very random and localised, particularly out of the locality.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (26th/27th September 2026).
A reversal in fortunes this weekend. What we would prefer as Sunday weather will be on Saturday instead. Can't win them all.
Saturday will be dry with a light breeze wandering randomly from southwest to southeast throughout the day. There is an expectation for some extended periods of sunshine, rather than the overcast we've seen this last week. Temperatures will start the day at 6c/7c, rising to 19c/20c during the afternoon, then falling back to 11c/12c at midnight.
Sunday begins well with just a slight chance of shower activity, but the forecast indicates a rising risk to 60% during the afternoon. This produced by a shift in the wind direction to a more decisive south west from south east, bringing rain into the district possibly in heavier bursts at times. This should clear before midnight. The wind could gust into the mid-20's(mph) from the middle morning until early afternoon. Temperatures will range from 10c/11c at dawn, rising to 18c/19c during the afternoon. By the witching hour, figures will be back down to around 13c.
Still respectable temperatures for this time of year. Let's hope it stays that way.

MOTORCYCLE WEATHER (21st - 25th September 2026).
It looks like a pleasant autumnal week coming up. Minimal amounts of wet stuff, if any.
Monday will be dry and sunny with little in the way of cloud. Light omnidirectional winds will make it feel quite warm with hardly any real air movement. Temperatures will begin the day at around 9c, rising through the morning to achieve at least 22c during the afternoon. Midnight sees 15c/16c on the thermometer.
Tuesday is expected to produce a misty start until sun-up, with a temperature of 13c initially. With virtually no discernible wind again, temperatures will rise to 23c/24c under sunny skies with cloud drifting about lazily. No rain expected. Temperatures finish at midnight with 16c/17c, providing warm conditions again.
Wednesday will have a slight breeze, but direction will be travelling the dial again, so that no particular compass point will be attained. Conditions will be a mix of cloud and sunshine again, with just a minimal risk of light rain for brief periods. Temperatures start around 14c at dawn, rising to 20c/21c during the afternoon. Midnight is showing a forecasted temperature of 9c/10c, in contrast to the previous night.
Thursday looks like the best day, with clear skies for a large part of daylight hours. No showers indicated, and a more concerted wind strength will produce a breeze from the bottom half of the compass without too specific an origin. Temperatures 9c/10c at dawn, rising under sunny skies to 21c/23c during the afternoon. Figures drop back to 13c/14c at midnight.
Friday sees the wind finally make it's mind up, and arrive from the south, swivelling to south westerly by evening. Strength will be light but noticeable. Mostly dry with broken cloud and sunny intervals once again. Temperatures running from 12c/13c at dawn, rising to 20c/21c during the afternoon. At midnight the temperature is forecast to be 12c.

MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND WEATHER (19th/20th September 2026).
A disappointing Friday, followed by a similar Saturday I'm sorry to say.
The day is expected to be a fairly grey affair, still affected by the Jetstream which is pushing weather systems towards the UK at 130mph; (High altitude so don't worry). Some sunshine may break through at times, but nothing of real note. Winds south west to west south-west and very gusty at times (30mph+). Rain is likely in bursts with mostly showers rather than anything heavy. It should become drier towards nightfall. Temperatures will range from 15c/16c at dawn, rising to 18c/19c before falling back to 15c at midnight. Fairly level figures in spite of the wind strength.
