A farewell… and an exciting hello to the next chapter of Big Fish Garage! It's a bit of a post but one I really want to post.
After many brilliant years building Big Fish Garage, the time has come for me to step away from the day-to-day running of the business and focus more of my energy on other ventures. Many close friends will know why this is coming.
I will remain a shareholder and will always care deeply about what we have built, but the business is now in exactly the right hands.
Guy and Chris have earned this opportunity. They have put in the hard work, shown huge passion for the business, and developed their own expertise through the freedom they have had in the workshop, on the dyno and with the increasingly complex work that comes through the doors.
They are no longer simply part of the team — they are the masters of the business. So much so, many customers will be thinking "Who's this John fella?!"
Big Fish Garage has always been about doing things properly: honest advice, serious diagnostic capability, quality workmanship and solving the jobs others cannot. Guy and Chris understand that better than anyone, and I am incredibly proud to see them take the business forward.
On a personal note, I took Guy and Chris on to train, develop and become part of the business — but somewhere along the way they became much more than that. They became true lifelong friends. There has been so emotional times over the last few years and we have supported each other through various stages of the journey in ways we genuinely could never of imagined would happen. Part of this was Guy, unknown to many had cancer and the way Chris stepped upto the mark to support and run this business was quite simply, legendary. Thankfully Guy is fully clear, and made an exceptional recovery which we all were massively grateful for.
We have worked hard together, learnt a lot together and had plenty of good times along the way. I know there will be many more of those to come — both in and out of the workshop.
They have been the mechanic team behind my ongoing midlife racing crisis, which I fully intend to carry on with properly! So while I may be stepping back from the day-to-day side of BFG, so whilst I may not be at the workshop or dyno much anymore, don't be surprised if we are at the tracks!
I also want to say a huge thank you to the many friends I have made through this business over the years — customers, suppliers, fellow businesses and everyone who has supported us along the way. You all know who you are, and there are simply too many of you to list. You have helped make BFG what it is. Your support, loyalty, encouragement and friendship have meant more than I can put into words. Much love to Acid and the MSL team for all our past and hopefully future developments together.
And a very special thank you to Pip. She has been a huge part of the change and development of Big Fish Garage, especially through the growth of the business and everything that has happened behind the scenes. We simply could not have done it without her. Her hard work, belief, support and commitment have helped shape BFG into what it is today.
For customers, suppliers and friends of Big Fish Garage, it is very much business as usual (if not better than ever) — with an exciting future ahead. The lads have big plans, the same standards remain, and I have every confidence they will take the business to the next level and beyond with the focus and dedication that you expect and need.
Please join me in wishing Guy and Chris every success as they lead this next chapter, these guys are masters at their craft and just keep getting better. Massively proud of you both. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey.
