2018 BMW 2 Series in with a coolant loss issue 💧🔍

After inspection, we found the oil filter housing with integrated water cooler had failed and was leaking coolant. These are a known weak point and can cause some serious headaches if left unchecked.

To confirm the fault, we carried out a full pressure test on the cooling system, which quickly revealed the leak from the housing.

✅ Removed the faulty oil filter housing
✅ Cleaned all mating surfaces
✅ Installed a brand new housing with water cooler
✅ Refilled and pressure tested again to ensure everything is sealed and leak-free

All sorted and back on the road with no more coolant loss 🚗💨

🚗 Citreon C4 PureTech – Wet Belt Replacement 🔧

Here’s a recent job showing exactly why regular maintenance on these engines is so important.

This Citreon C4 PureTech came in for inspection and we found the wet timing belt badly deteriorated. As you can see from the photos, the belt had started to break down and shed material into the engine oil. The oil pickup strainer was heavily contaminated with belt debris, which can restrict oil flow and potentially cause serious engine damage if left unchecked.

The PureTech wet belt system runs inside the engine oil, which means when the belt begins to degrade it contaminates the lubrication system. If not addressed early, this can lead to loss of oil pressure and major engine failure.

⚠️ If you own a Citroen/Peugeot with a PureTech engine, it’s important to have the belt inspected and replaced at the recommended intervals (or sooner).

Another busy day in the workshop with this VW Tiguan 4Motion 🔧🚙

Customer came in with engine warning light and poor performance. After diagnostics, we traced the fault to a failed EGR valve causing incorrect exhaust gas flow and running issues.

Out with the old, carboned-up unit and in with a brand new EGR valve – not the easiest job on these, but all fitted and tested properly.

✅ New EGR valve installed✅ Fault codes cleared✅ Engine running smooth again✅ Road test completed

If your car is lacking power, throwing warning lights or going into limp mode, don’t ignore it – EGR faults are common and can cause bigger problems if left too long.

Dashboard out, heater box exposed… this little Citroën C1 decided it didn’t want any airflow today 😅❄️

Blower motor had completely given up, so in came the tools and out came half the interior. New blower motor fitted and everything refitted nice and tidy.

✅ Fan working on all speeds
✅ Heat & demist back
✅ No more freezing mornings
✅ Customer happy

Small car… big job. But that’s how we like it 🔧🔥

Nothing like a VW Transporter alternator swap to keep the day interesting 😎🔧

Customer came in with charging issues – battery light on and voltage dropping. After stripping the front end back and draining the coolant, we got full access and replaced the faulty alternator with a fresh unit.

✔️ New alternator fitted
✔️ System bled and refilled
✔️ Wiring checked
✔️ Charging voltage back where it should be
✔️ Road test complete

These Transporters don’t make it easy, but that’s half the fun. Proper job done and this van is back on the road doing what it does best 💪🚐
