🚐 Here we go… this one had us scratching our heads for a bit.
A Mercedes-Benz Vito W639 came in with one of the strangest ignition faults we’ve seen in a while…
🔑 Key in… nothing
🔑 Try again… ignition on
🔑 Then it switches itself straight back off
🔑 Next time… just an airbag light
🔑 Then randomly… it starts like nothing ever happened
No pattern. No logic. Just chaos.
The customer had already done the rounds:
🔧 New key Programmed ❌
🔧 Steering lock checked + emulator fitted ❌
🔧 Still exactly the same issue
But here’s the thing…
🚚 The customer is a delivery driver — this van is their livelihood.
⏱️ They simply could not afford any downtime or waiting around for parts to be sent off.
That actually helped us — no point going backwards, we knew those had been ruled out.
So we got it in, ran diagnostics… everything looked fine 🤔
Even put it on the bench rig — again, no obvious faults.
At this point, it’s down to experience…
💡 These modules are known for failing
Luckily, we keep them on the shelf (for this exact reason). So instead of delays… we backed our judgement 👇
🔧 Module replaced
An hour later…
✅ Starts every time
✅ No warning lights
✅ No random cut-outs
✅ Back on the road earning again
Just like that 💥
Sometimes it’s not about what the diagnostics say… it’s about knowing what actually fails on these.
⚡ Everything done in-house
🚫 No sending parts away
⏱️ Minimal downtime when it matters most
If your Mercedes is doing something it definitely shouldn’t… drop us a message — we’ve probably seen it before 👌
