😩 WHEN A CAR SALE TURNS INTO AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE…
Remember our stunning one-owner Jaguar XF in Osmium Silver Metallic? 🩶
We'd sold the car, had the windows tinted, alloy wheels refurbished and paintwork polished. Everything was looking fantastic.
Then it went for its MOT… and that's where things took a turn. 🤦♂️
The lower turbo had failed. A job involving around 20 hours of labour!
As we started investigating, we uncovered even more issues.
🔧 Coolant leaking
🔧 Coolant level sensor wiring bodged so it constantly showed full
🔧 A thermostat screw missing
🔧 And a whole lot of work nobody was expecting!
Some of these issues certainly look like they've been hidden in the past, which is incredibly frustrating.
At that point, I cancelled the sale and seriously considered sending the car straight to auction.
But instead, we've decided to put it right.
✅ Brand-new turbo purchased
✅ Full service kit ordered
✅ Coolant issues being rectified
✅ Proper mechanical repairs underway
The car is currently in pieces, as you can see in the video! 😂
The profit on this one? Pretty much gone.
But that's the reality of running a dealership that genuinely cares about the cars it sells.
It would be easy to cut our losses and move it on. Instead, we're investing the time and money to get it right.
I'm not saying every car will be perfect or that things can never go wrong. But when we find a problem, we deal with it.
This is the side of the motor trade customers don't always get to see.
