2 Abarth mta automatics in last week with the same issue.

Both vehicles had no reverse gear & a grinding noise when driving in forward gears.

These vehicles both had the same thing in common initially they would select gears show on the dash in first or reverse but wouldn’t pull away when the accelerator pedal was pressed.
Unfortunately in both these cases someone decided to rev them up to 3500 revs where the gearbox ecu automatically lets the clutch out & boom 💥 it strips the teeth from the spigot shaft & the gearbox is then not repairable due to the cost of parts.

In both cases we supply good used tested boxes, new clutches & slave cylinders & one requires a flywheel.
New gearbox oil then a full gearbox calibration.

2016 Abarth 595 1.4 t-jet in for something a bit different & challenging.

We had this customer contact us a while ago he had brought a car which was having a constant error with throttle pedal & motorised throttle position it wouldn’t rev correctly about 3500 roughly.

He was pretty competent himself & did a lot of wiring checks & replaced a re parts but could t figure out what was going on

When we received the car we checked the errors & looked at the live data to see throttle position track 2 was not correct & was about 8% different than track 1.
We tried the simplest things first like a pedal & throttle body with good know parts but it was still the same, we tried to calibrate the throttle body using the genuine online abarth tool & it showed that it calibrated fine but it still had the issue.

Next we checked the wiring from the engine ecu to the throttle body which was showing fine even when load tested.

We decided it was time to try another ecu which the customer had already done but it didn’t change anything.

This time I tried another ecu but without the customers data in it & used a start up code to get the car to run & would you believe it the car then ran perfect.

So here comes the strange part we swapped the mpc (map file) from the ecu that ran fine & it went back to been faulty so we tried a virgin eeprom (immobiliser) file & the same mpc (map file)
& the car ran fine & the throttle track data was back to mirroring each other.

The strange thing is the eeprom doesn’t control the throttle so must have been a corrupt eeprom file causing havoc.

There is only a handful of garages in the country that could first of all worked out what was going on & had the ability to put it right without throwing £1000’s at the car.

The customer now has his car fixed all for £400 it was worth the long trip.

Alfa Romeo Mito 0.9 twin air in today.

The customer was having steering issues the car was constantly pulling to the left.

They had very recently had the electric steering column removed & sent off for reconditioning.

Unfortunately which ever garage fitted the unit back to the car didn’t check to make sure the steering torque position sensors were centred.

As the steering shaft was 360 degrees out to the left the electric shaft was constantly trying to self centre itself.

We have done 100’s of these units on punto’s, panda’s, 500’s & mito’s so we knew exactly where to look & what the data should be.

I aligned the steering shaft to its correct position dead centre was 0.0 degrees as it should be & the car is now driving perfect.

2015 Abarth 500 comp mta automatic in for an Ade remap

These cars respond so well to a proper written remap & as usual we only use the best ADEdmundson

This one we replaced the clutch, slave & flywheel a few months ago so we knew there would be no issue with the power on the clutch.

2nd 2019 Abarth 595 of the day in for an Ade remap, decat & a evap delete.

This one was a little bit different as it came in with some mods.

We did a ADEdmundson stage 1 software calibration with the evap delete & a decat for track use obviously

Ant worked his magic in one go this time & the car drove fantastic, responsive & no issues at all holding stable boost & no spark reduction.

1 of 4 2019 Abarth 595’s in today this one for a adedmundson remap & a evap delete.

ADEdmundson stage 1 software calibration for the ihi turbo running on 97 Ron ⛽️.

Evap software delete

We had to have a couple of goes at this one due to having a forge actuator fitted which is absolutely not necessary on these standard turbos.

We test drive & log each vehicle then adjust if necessary not just send them out the door running to much boost & timing.

Do the job right the first time.

We also checked over the vehicle as the customer had some other complaints & it booked in for a rear wheel bearing & a drive shaft oil seal
