A little update from The Epic Boating Company

Sadly, my dad passed away this afternoon following a difficult few days in hospital.

As you can imagine, it’s been an upsetting time, so we may be a little slower than usual responding to messages, emails and enquiries over the next few days.

We’re still operating as normal as possible, but please bear with us while we take some time to deal with everything.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Nikki & Andy ❤️

FOR SALE - DEMBY ROSE II – 60ft 8in Traditional Narrowboat – Exceptionally Well Equipped Liveaboard

£59,995.00

📍 Grand Union Canal, Buckinghamshire
🎥 Full walk-through video available on request

We are delighted to offer Demby Rose II, a beautiful traditional 60ft 8in narrowboat which has clearly been exceptionally well cared for by her current owner.

Built in 2000 by Dave Thomas with an interior fit-out by Merlin Narrowboats, Demby Rose has a proper traditional feel inside, with extensive wood panelling and joinery throughout. She offers 2+4 berths, a permanent double bedroom, separate bathroom, well-equipped galley, Pullman dinette and comfortable saloon and sofa sleeper bed with storage.

What really sets this boat apart, though, is her equipment.

She has been set up for comfortable, independent living aboard, with a specification considerably beyond that found on many boats of her age.

⚡ Victron Quattro inverter
🔋 4 brand-new Victron batteries
☀️ 4 solar panels
⚙️ Built-in diesel generator by MasterVolt
🔥 Eberspächer central heating – replaced approximately 4 years ago
🔥 Superb Morso diesel stove
🧺 Washing machine
❄️ Separate freezer
💧 Filtered drinking-water tap
📡 Self-seeking satellite system & new TV
🛥️ Bow thruster
🪟 Double glazing
👷New BSS to 2030

Powered by the highly regarded Beta Marine 1903 43hp diesel engine, currently showing approximately 3,000 hours and regularly serviced by the owner.

The boat was blacked with bitumen on 5 July 2026, when 8 new anodes were fitted. Photographs of the boat out of the water are available, and the owner advises that no pit welding was required.

Other features include a large approximately 160-gallon stainless-steel water tank, pump-out toilet, 12V/230V electrical systems and generous storage throughout.

Demby Rose is a lovely example of a traditional narrowboat which feels warm and characterful inside while having the equipment required for modern life afloat. For anyone looking for a proper liveaboard or extended-cruising boat rather than a basic leisure boat, she is well worth considering.

ENQUIRIES & VIEWINGS

A comprehensive specification and walk-through video are available before viewing and we’re very happy to answer any questions about the boat.

To respect our owners’ time, viewings are by appointment and are reserved for buyers who are in a position to proceed with a purchase. We therefore ask prospective buyers to review the specification and walk-through video before arranging an appointment.

Please message us with your name and telephone number and we will be happy to send the full details and video.

⚓️ Something new has arrived at Epic Boating! ⚓️

We’ve been VERY excited about today… and finally we can show you why! 😍

Tukka has had her new SeaDek decking installed — and we absolutely love it.

But today wasn’t just about transforming Tukka. As part of the installation, Andy and I were trained in the fitting and installation of SeaDek, with a view to Epic Boating becoming a SeaDek supplier and installer for inland waterways boats.

And having now seen it fitted to Tukka, we think it’s going to be absolutely brilliant for narrowboats and widebeams.

SeaDek is a marine-grade foam decking that gives you a comfortable, non-slip surface underfoot while completely transforming the look of a boat. It can be custom templated and cut to fit, which makes it perfect for areas such as:

⚓️ Cruiser and semi-trad stern decks
⚓️ Well decks
⚓️ Gunwales
⚓️ Roof seating areas
⚓️ Steps and other exterior deck areas

Tukka was certainly a good test for us — there are barely any straight lines on her! 😂 — but just look at the result. The detailing around the hatches, fittings and curves is gorgeous.

This particular colour and design works beautifully with Tukka’s 1970s Dutch styling, but there are lots of colour and design possibilities, so it can be tailored to suit a much more traditional narrowboat or a contemporary widebeam too.

We’ll be sharing more information very soon, but if you’ve ever looked at your stern or well deck and thought “that could do with something…”, this might just be it.

Drop us a message at The Epic Boating Company if you’d like to know more.

A huge thank you to for the installation and training. We’re really excited to see what we can do with this on the inland waterways. 🧡⚓️

⚓ Things don’t always go to plan in boating!

A little break between hires gave us the perfect opportunity to get a few maintenance jobs done on King’s Landing… or so we thought!

When Andy went to turn her around, he immediately noticed that she wasn’t handling as she should. A check through the w**d hatch revealed the problem — both the propeller and prop shaft were damaged, the shaft was bent and it was causing the engine to move from side to side. 😬

Definitely not good news!

With yesterday being a Bank Holiday, there wasn’t much we could do until this morning, so today has been something of a logistical mission.

🌅 First thing, Andy took King’s Landing to Willowbridge Marina to be lifted out of the water.

🚗 Meanwhile, I headed off to Kings Lock in Cheshire to collect a brand-new propeller and prop shaft — a six-hour round trip and, needless to say, not an inexpensive shopping trip! 😳

🔧 While I was on the road, Joe from South East Marine Services got to work, cutting the rudder and removing the damaged propeller and shaft so everything was ready for the new parts to arrive.

Unfortunately, despite everyone pulling out all the stops, we just missed the 5pm deadline to get her lifted back into the water. That means our next guests, who are travelling all the way from Spain, will have a slight delay before they can start their holiday tomorrow morning.

But all’s well that ends well. The new parts are here, the repair is underway and King’s Landing should very shortly be back where she belongs. 🛥️❤️

A huge thank you to East Mobile Marine Services and the staff at Middlewich Kings Lock Chandlery for helping us pull everything together at such short notice.

Running a hire boat certainly keeps us on our toes!

No peace for the wicked… but hopefully one very happy set of holidaymakers tomorrow! 😂⚓
