Gary had poor practice days but stuck with his 15ft sink tip 2 x nemesis and a fooby. Top area was chicken leg....tucked out of the wind.. A hard and wild day at the lake. More info at.

133rd National Fly Fishing Championship gets underway.

Good luck to all in the Seniors National Championship tomorrow. 10 years ago we were celebrating 50 years as a fishery and Jimmy McBride became the National Champ. Next week we will removing the rope in Gateside Bay. Secchi Disk Clarity 1.95m 6ft water temperature 16C.

We are delighted to announce the Scottish Open Fly Fishing Championship 2026!

The Lake of Menteith Fisheries is contributing £780 to the prize fund, we are adding £10 for every £15 entry fee received to the prize pot.

With a full field of 78 competitors, the potential cash prize fund is £1,950, split:

🥇 1st – £1200 +Ronnie Glass Painting for a year.
🥈 2nd – £500
🥉 3rd – £250

🎣 LOOP TACKLE have generously sponsored the Championship with a Loop rod for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place!

🎯 Scottish open rules:

• 9am–5pm
• £39 fishing + £15 entry
• Catch & release
• Barbless/de-barbed flies
• Scottish club rules
• Winner decided by most fish caught and released and time of first 2 fish caught
• Random boat allocation

Thursday 22nd October: 25 boats available if you want to practice you can book via the website

Friday 23rd October: Limited availability — half-boat bookings preferred at the moment due to strong uptake. If you are already booked in please email us if you are happy to pair up. 30 boats have been reserved off line.

We have put a line of bouys 30 to 40m out from the chalets at Lochend. Boats are not allowed passed these bouys but you can drift right up to them and fish beyond. This means that not much fishable water is unavailable.

Good afternoon All,

I hope you all enjoyed our day on the Lake yesterday for our 2026 Inter Club Competition.
The weather turned out to be pretty much perfect for fly fishing with a full cloud cover and a nice ripple.

We managed to catch a total of 151 fish.
It appears that nobody blanked and the anglers who knew how to attract the newly stocked fish were all the top rods.

A huge thank you once again to all the clubs who have once again given our two comps their massive support and made them both such a great success which is very much appreciated.
A big thank you to Quint and his staff for looking after us so well and once again donating a Voucher for two to fish the Lake, and also to Gil & Ross for also once again donating a voucher for two to fish the magnificent Harelaw, including breakfast.

I've been asked to put these results on Facebook, which regrettably I don't know how to do that, but if anybody wants to post this, please carry on.

Going forward for next year, I'll be looking for two assistants on the day of this comp, as i found the workload just too much for one person to collate all the results and prepare and present all the prizes in a timely fashion to save keeping everybody waiting too long.

If you have qualified for the SCOTTISH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS on 25th September please notify us if you wish a PRACTICE BOATS(s) on Thursday 24th - preferably by email as we have held them all back for finalists. We will be releasing any that arent wanted next week on to the web booking system.
