Join VMS Automotive Group Ltd – a growing, forward-thinking fleet management company delivering industry-leading services across the UK.
We’re looking for an experienced Mobile Refrigeration Engineer to support and maintain our refrigerated fleet across multiple regions, including:
📍 Leeds / Yorkshire / Lincoln / Peterborough / North London / Milton Keynes / Devon / Cornwall

🔧 About the Role
This is a fully mobile position where you’ll be:
✅ Servicing, maintaining, and repairing refrigerated vehicles (LCV to HGV)
✅ Diagnosing faults across refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems
✅ Providing breakdown support at customer sites and roadside
✅ Working with industry-leading systems like Carrier, ThermoKing & GAH

👤 What We’re Looking For
✔️ Experience with transport refrigeration systems
✔️ Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
✔️ Ability to work independently in a field-based role
✔️ Great customer service and communication skills
✔️ Full UK driving licence (essential)
💡 F-Gas Cat 1 (preferred, or willingness to gain)

VMS Fleet Management Ltd is a forward-thinking Contract Hire, Fleet and Accident Management company supporting blue-chip fleet operators and insurance providers across the UK. Our services span accident management, vehicle hire, repair & maintenance, refrigeration, salvage and fleet disposal.
🔧 The Role
This is a fast-paced, varied position where you’ll play a key role in keeping our fleet and workshop operations running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for:

Managing vehicle hire bookings and off-hires through our Pro Hire system
Coordinating with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
Monitoring hire extensions/terminations and vehicle availability
Handling customer queries via phone and email
Supporting workshop operations including estimates, parts ordering and scheduling
Maintaining accurate records, systems, and daily spreadsheets

✅ What We’re Looking For

Strong IT skills (especially Microsoft Excel)
Excellent organisation and multitasking ability
High attention to detail and accuracy
Confident communicator with a great telephone manner
Customer-focused mindset
Ability to thrive in a busy, deadline-driven environment

👉 Experience in fleet, vehicle rental, or the motor trade is highly desirable.
💼 What You’ll Get

Salary: £26,985 per annum
Full-time, permanent role
Monday–Friday (flexible between 08:00–18:00)
Saturday rota (1 in 2, with TOIL)
Opportunity to grow within a dynamic, supportive team

Poor lighting isn’t just an MOT fail. It directly affects safety, especially during early mornings, late finishes, and winter months.

🔎 Key things to check:
Headlights working on both dipped and full beam
Brake lights illuminating evenly
Indicators flashing at the correct speed
Number plate lamps (one of the most common MOT failures)

⚠️ Why it matters:
Dim or failed bulbs increase the risk of collisions and reduce reaction time for other road users.

Cold weather is tough on commercial vehicles. A few simple checks before temperatures drop can save costly breakdowns and downtime later.

🔧 Key winter checks:
Battery health – cold starts are harder; weak batteries won’t survive long
Tyres – tread depth and pressures are critical for grip on wet or icy roads
Coolant/antifreeze – prevents freezing and protects the engine
Wipers & screenwash – visibility matters more when daylight hours are short
Heater & defroster – essential for driver comfort and safety

✅ A pre-winter inspection helps ensure vehicles keep moving when you need them most.
