My 4th little superstar from The Kings Head Stamford team 👊🏻 Dad has been an absolute star with helping you with your driving too (well done dad!) Are We Asking Too Much of Driving Instructors… or Just Not Understanding the Job?

Everyone thinks they know what we do.
Sit there.
Give directions.
Get someone through a test.

Simple.
That version of the job does not exist anymore.

Every lesson is pressure.
Real roads.
Real risk.
Real consequences.

We are not just watching traffic.
We are predicting it.
Preventing it.
Intervening in seconds when it goes wrong.

And at the same time…
We are managing anxiety.
Panic.
Overthinking.
Confidence that disappears mid-roundabout.

We are adapting for neurodivergent learners.
Rebuilding people after collisions.
Supporting adults who have not driven in years.
Sitting beside someone whose hands are shaking before the engine even starts.

But here is the part no one talks about.
We are expected to do all of that…
calmly…
consistently…
professionally…

While the world outside the car gets worse.
🚘 Costs rising
⏰ Test delays stretching months
📱 Drivers distracted and impatient
🧠 Learners under more pressure than ever

And still…
People think we are “just instructors.”

No.
We are risk managers.
We are decision makers.
We are the barrier between a mistake and a collision.

And most of it goes unseen.
So next time you get frustrated behind a learner car, ask yourself this:

Would you want that responsibility?
Would you want to sit there, knowing one missed moment could change everything?

This is not just a job anymore.
It is responsibility at a level most people will never experience.

It deserves more respect than it gets.

We’re putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings 🚘

If you’ve got a booking or you’ll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪

Absolutely over the moon for Ella on passing her driving test this morning! Although the nerves did kick in a little beforehand she held it together like a pro, showed the examiner how things are done and went and smashed it with only a few tiny driver faults 🥳 Ella has worked so hard not only on lessons but with private practice at home (well done mum & dad!) Happy & safe motoring and enjoy your freedom I will miss our lessons very much 😘 🚙💨 x

Absolutely over the moon for Nathan today on passing his test on his first attempt with an amazing ZERO faults! Wow what a result, even when the heavens opened 5 minutes into the test, you did what you needed to do 👍🏻
You have been a joy to teach, worked hard on your lessons and strived to get things right every time, and that all paid off today 😉 enjoy your freedom and that new car of yours you so deserve it. Happy & safe motoring 🚙💨💨

So thrilled for Tilly this afternoon on passing her driving test with just 3 tiny driver errors 🥳 we have had such a long wait for this test to come round 😬 but the wait paid off today! Happy car hunting once you get back from your trip at the weekend 🗽🇺🇸 have a fab time & I'm not jealous much!!! 😂 it's been an absolute pleasure on our lessons..take care & stay safe out there 😘 xx

When you get that text 🙏🏻 Double NYE celebration's for myself & Wenzeng today 🥳 Unfortunately I couldn't take Wenzeng for his test today, so he took it in the family car and passed with a superb 3 little driver error result on his first attempt 👍🏻 He has worked so hard on his lessons in between uni and coming back to Stamford over the last few months for the odd lesson here and there to keep up the training & progress we made in the summer. You really deserved today's result! Happy and safe motoring out there! 🚗💨 😉
