☔️ Well the torrential downpour today didn't stop Rachel passing her driving test on her first attempt this morning! 🥳 It was shocking on the roads out there, but she took it all in her stride, took it a little steadier & slower than usual and came back with just a couple of little driver faults. I'm really proud of how you handled it, as we had never had rain like it on our lessons! So very well done, a fantastic result..happy & safe motoring Rachel, it's been a pleasure! Enjoy your travels 😊 ⛵️

It's that time of year again folks! New courses, college days changing etc..just a little reminder for those of you who were waiting for your timetable's or are on my waiting list & at the time didn't know your schedules, the earlier I know the better to get you booked in! Well done Harry 🥳 he only went and did it! What a spectacular drive this afternoon, you certainly were an "over thinker" on our lessons 🫣 but you absolutely blasted that test 👊🏻 happy and safe motoring and I will miss our little debates about Donald 😂

This scorcher of a day didn't stop Daisy 🥵 she was a cool as a cucumber from the minute I picked her up this morning, and only went and smashed her driving test on her first attempt with just 3 tiny driver faults! You have worked so hard on your lessons, always been keen & reliable and eager to learn. I'm so proud of you 😉 happy & safe driving and relax now and enjoy that holiday (not that I'm jealous in the slightest 😜) xx

Big congratulations to Ned on passing his test with flying colours on his first attempt today! My 4th little superstar from The Kings Head Stamford team 👊🏻 Dad has been an absolute star with helping you with your driving too (well done dad!) You have worked so hard on our lessons & have been an absolute pleasure to teach 😊 happy & safe motoring Ned! 🚙💨

Are We Asking Too Much of Driving Instructors… or Just Not Understanding the Job?

Everyone thinks they know what we do.
Sit there.
Give directions.
Get someone through a test.

Simple.
That version of the job does not exist anymore.

Every lesson is pressure.
Real roads.
Real risk.
Real consequences.

We are not just watching traffic.
We are predicting it.
Preventing it.
Intervening in seconds when it goes wrong.

And at the same time…
We are managing anxiety.
Panic.
Overthinking.
Confidence that disappears mid-roundabout.

We are adapting for neurodivergent learners.
Rebuilding people after collisions.
Supporting adults who have not driven in years.
Sitting beside someone whose hands are shaking before the engine even starts.

But here is the part no one talks about.
We are expected to do all of that…
calmly…
consistently…
professionally…

While the world outside the car gets worse.
🚘 Costs rising
⏰ Test delays stretching months
📱 Drivers distracted and impatient
🧠 Learners under more pressure than ever

And still…
People think we are “just instructors.”

No.
We are risk managers.
We are decision makers.
We are the barrier between a mistake and a collision.

And most of it goes unseen.
So next time you get frustrated behind a learner car, ask yourself this:

Would you want that responsibility?
Would you want to sit there, knowing one missed moment could change everything?

This is not just a job anymore.
It is responsibility at a level most people will never experience.

It deserves more respect than it gets.
