Peter (Pete) Edward Owens

It is with great sadness that we announce that Pete Owens, aged 74, of White Cross, Haughton, Stafford, passed away on Friday 28th November 2025 while in the compassionate care of Kathrine House Hospice.

Pete will be greatly missed by his wife, his loving family, and all his friends whose lives he touched.

A service to celebrate Pete’s life will take place at Stafford Crematorium on Thursday 18th December at 3:30 pm. A venue afterwards is TBA

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Owens (2nd September 1951 - 28th November 2025), who left us after a short illness.

As one of the founding partners, Pete established Summerhouse Garage Bodyshop at its current location on Astonfields Industrial Estate, Stafford, in 1978. His dedication and hard work helped build the business into the respected name it is today.

Peter retired in 2016 and embraced his hobbies, especially his love of music. He was the drummer for the band “Mid Life Crisis”, performing at local events and bringing joy to many with his talent and enthusiasm.

Pete will truly missed by all his family and friends.

We are currently seeking an experienced Auto Body Spray Painter / Prepper to join our established and reputable body shop in Stafford. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment on a wide range of vehicles – from everyday cars and light commercials.

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in auto body prepping and spray painting

Proficient in using water-based and solvent-based paints

Skilled in paint colour matching and mixing

Able to carry out high-quality vehicle preparation and refinishing

Competent in priming, sanding, filling, masking, spraying, mopping and QC

Knowledge of light panel beating and SMART repair techniques (advantageous)

Must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as part of a team

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills

A full, clean UK driving licence

We have a vacancy available for a PREPPER/AUTO BODY SPRAY PAINTER with at least 3 years of experience. The right applicant must have experience using water-based paints and have hands on experience with the preparation and refinishing of vehicles to a high standard. Must have knowledge in matching and mixing paint colours and be able to work within a team on their own initiative. Some experience in panel beating and smart repair techniques would be an advantage.
The position is within an established body shop in Stafford with a local reputation for high standards, working on a wide variety of vehicles from everyday cars, motorcycles and light commercials to classic cars and race cars.
A full driving licence (clean) is essential. Skills should include: -
Experience in the painting of motor vehicles
Knowledge in mixing and applying a variety of colours in water and solvent based paints.
Knowledge and ability in light panel beating skills, sanding and filling vehicles.
Experience priming, preparing and masking components / vehicles prior to spraying
Working with fibreglass panels.
Be able to communicate effectively and resolve problems quickly and efficiently
Excellent communication, organisational and inter-personal skills
Self-motivated and with the ability to work unsupervised
Pay is dependent on the level of skill and experience.
