🏁 RACE WEEKEND – BAWSEY COUNTRY PARK! 🔧💚

This weekend JELLPerformance will be at Bawsey Country Park, King’s Lynn for Rounds 5 & 6 of the JSRA British Jetsport Championship! 🇬🇧🏁

We’ll be there as normal, keeping those spanners moving 🔧 and doing what we do best behind the scenes.

We’ll be checking over, prepping and keeping Simon Belcher #111’s Sport GP boat running and performing throughout the weekend 👌🔥

🔧 PREPPED & READY!

We’ve also got Kyle Horton, Riley Horton & Sam Wilson’s skis all prepped, checked over and ready to hit the water this weekend! 💪

The workshop prep is done — now it’s down to the riders! 🏁🔥

Another busy race weekend incoming with plenty of spannering, racing and hopefully some strong results!

🔧 JELLPERFORMANCE TECH TIP – COMPRESSION TESTING

Did you know one of the main checks we use to help assess the health and condition of your engine is a compression test?

It sounds simple…

Remove the spark plugs, fit a compression tester, crank the engine and see what readings we get.

But the number on the gauge only tells part of the story. 👀

While the plugs are out, we also inspect each spark plug closely. Combined with the compression readings, they can tell us a lot about what’s happening inside your engine and can be a valuable part of diagnosing running problems and faults.

We’re looking at things like:

🔧 Compression across each cylinder
🔧 How quickly the compression builds
🔧 Differences between cylinders
🔧 Spark plug condition and deposits
🔧 Signs of ignition quality & how well each cylinder is burning its fuel
🔧 Signs of rich or lean running
🔧 Oil, fuel or water contamination
🔧 Early signs that something might not be quite right

And it’s not something we only check during a service.

At JELLPerformance, compression testing and spark plug inspection is common practice when carrying out a general checkover, when a watercraft comes in for fault finding or diagnostics, and before carrying out performance work.

Before we start asking more from an engine, we want to have a good indication of its condition first. 👌

It’s not simply “good compression = good engine”, and spark plug inspection isn’t just about what colour the plug is either.

Knowing what the readings and plugs are actually telling you comes from years of testing, stripping, repairing and diagnosing these engines.

Sometimes these simple checks can help us diagnose an existing problem or highlight something early before it becomes a much more expensive one.
