How do you know if your new propellers are performing as you were promised in the sales pitch? We were out on the water with earlier this summer using our in-house Trials App software to gather and analyse critical sea trial data to demonstrate our bespoke Class S propellers are delivering optimum performance for the new Squadron 58.

The sea trial found:
- that at cruising speeds of 15-20knots, fuel consumption was around 15 L/hr lower with the CJR Class S propellers compared to a traditional hand-finished propeller from a competitor.
- vibration and noise levels at1800 and 2470 (WOT) RPM were significantly reduced (by up to 4/5s in some places) with the CJR propellers

This seatrial is an important phase of our ongoing technical partnership with the Fairline design and engineering teams. It gives everyone (including the boats' new owners) confidence that enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced vibration for a smooth and comfortable ride are real - not just sales spiel.

We don't just talk about improved efficiency we demonstrate it - and that's data our customers can really use. Get in touch now if you'd like to find out more about how we can help you demonstrate improved efficiency to your customers and other stakeholders.

It's less than two weeks until where you’ll find us on Stand 105 at the Pantiero. Come and talk to our experienced team about how the right sterngear can make a measurable difference to your vessel efficiency and performance.

Our team can talk you through:

• Class S propellers - fully CNC-machined for high levels of accuracy and efficiency
• Flow-aligned rudders - designed to complement the propeller and optimise the complete propulsion system
• Rapid replacement - a two-week replacement service for Class S propellers, helping minimise vessel downtime
• Bespoke sterngear packages - developed in collaboration with naval architects, marine engineers and boatbuilders to suit each application

From conventional propulsion through to hybrid and electric systems, our experience spans a broad range of vessels and operating requirements.

Alex Stevens, our Technical Sales Director, and Darius Jesaniel Bharmal from our engineering team will be at the show throughout the week to answer your questions.

If you’re working on a new build, refit or propulsion upgrade, come and talk to us. We’d be happy to share some of the results we’ve achieved for other vessels and discuss where we could add value to your next project.

See you at Cannes!

"THE DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE IS AMAZING": Thanks to Christopher Choy for sharing his experience of the noticeable performance improvement as a result of fitting CJR flow-aligned rudders, flow-aligned p-struts, and Class S propellers to 'Sneak Attack'.

"I have been fishing on Sneak Attack for 8 years during the Bisbees tournament as a fly in crew from Kona Hawaii. The difference in performance is amazing. With flow aligned package the wake is cleaner the boat feels smoother at ALL speeds. Pretty amazing stuff! Great job to you guys!" Christopher Choy

Sneak Attack took 2nd place overall at the 2026 Bisbee's Offshore Fishing Tournaments East Cape Tournament earlier this month, with a 488lb black marlin earning them over $410,000. Christopher has been crewing Sneak Attack at the Bisbees for 8 years, so he has a lot of experience onboard this vessel - which is why his feedback about the noticeable difference he experienced on board this year after CJR sterngear was fitted means such a lot.

Launched in May this year, sea trials showed our sterngear upgrade, alongside new MAN engines, gained an extra 7 knots - hitting 41.5 knots at 2355 RPM. On this project we worked closely with an expert team, including Brian at , Cody at Premium Marine, Justin at , and Troy at

Don't just take our word for it - the results speak for themselves.

Views from La Spezia onboard a 96-foot production motor yacht during sea trials yesterday.

While our in-house CFD modelling software provides highly accurate performance predictions, nothing replaces real-world testing. Sea trials are the ultimate test, allowing us to analyse speed, handling, vibration, and overall vessel performance to ensure our propellers are delivering exactly as expected and meeting our customer's requirements. Using wireless sensors, CJR's TrialsApp system was developed by our engineering team to make gathering this essential data as easy as possible. It's quick, portable, and delivers accurate real-time reports in pdf format that can be viewed before the yacht returns to shore. For this trial, it only took around two hours to set up, get out, gather the data, and finish up - saving the team valuable time.

The data we collect enables us to fine-tune performance where needed and, for production boatbuilders, provides valuable insights that can help optimise future vessels across the range.

With sunshine and stunning Italian scenery, days like these might not look like "work" from the outside. But sea trials are a critical part of the process and an important stage in our partnership with customers, ensuring every vessel performs to the highest standards before delivery.

Three cheers for Graeme Lloyd and John Kelly who successfully completed their fundraising walk from Bovington in Dorset to Portsmouth last month. We were very happy to support them to really 'push the boat out' on this mammoth trek by 3D printing the replica warship and tank costumes which they wore throughout the walk.

The duo visited a number of military sites along the way, clocking up around 100 miles in seven days during the sweltering heat of the first summer heatwave! So far, they have raised nearly £6,000 for MND Association and Veterans' Foundation - a fantastic achievement. Our 3D printed naval frigate can now be spotted as part of a flower display in Lee on Solent.

Congratulations again to Graeme and John on this remarkable accomplishment, and thank you for letting us play a small part in raising money for such worthwhile causes.

Spot our flow-aligned rudders, flow-aligned struts, and Class S propellers in this picture from underneath BadCo 50. This shot was taken as this performance gameboat was being lifted onto the deck of the 175 mothership earlier this year. She's now been deployed in Madeira - and we can't wait to see her in action.

Built with the ambition of becoming the first gameboat to circumnavigate the globe, each element of BadCo 50, including the sterngear, has been engineered for maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. We're proud to have worked closely with all the teams involved in this remarkable project.

Sea trial performance:
• 30-knot cruise at just under 30 gallons per hour per side
• 38-knot top speed fully loaded
• Up to 40 knots at half load

Performance highlights:
• LOA: 50 ft
• Beam: 16 ft
• Dry weight: 32,600 lb (40,000 lb fighting weight)
• Cruise: 30 knots @ 1,925 RPM – 29 GPH per side
• Cruise: 31 knots @ 2,025 RPM – 33 GPH per side
• Cruise: 33 knots @ 2,125 RPM – 37 GPH per side
• Top speed: 38 knots fully loaded – 45 GPH per side
• Trolling: 8.5 knots @ 700 RPM – 2.7 GPH per side

As the owner put it after sea trials:

"With 6 people on board and 3/4 fuel and full water, she hit 39 knots in real conditions and weight. At half load, she'll do 40 knots. 33.8 knots at 74 gallons an hour for a 50-footer. 0.456 NMPG. What a machine."

Understanding our customers' objectives, specific operational requirements, and any technical challenges is central to the success of a project. By taking the time to visit our customers, listen to their needs, and work alongside their teams, we can achieve the best outcomes while building partnerships that grow stronger over the long-term.

This week, we were back at to review existing and future jobs with the team. (Photo l-r Eloi D'REGEL, Sunreef, Andrew Schrooten CJR Propulsion, Patryk Anioł, Sunreef and Alex Stevens, CJR Propulsion)

We know that face-to-face meetings like this provide us with valuable insights that can't always be gained via email, on the phone, or via Teams. They give us the opportunity to see project progress first hand, better understand any opportunities or challenges, and discuss what we can do to support upcoming builds.

Thanks to the team at Sunreef for welcoming us this week - we're proud to work with you towards our shared goal - to help make each vessel the best it can be.
