Something of a work in progress....
The 2015 bonnie comes with single front disc.
The owner, a very good friend of ours, wanted twin disc...
So...
Having already made the switch to Kineo wheels, a mirror image disc mount for the hub was easy. The original wheel would never have worked.
But... how to mount the second caliper?
We've measured up and selected a set of Honda CBF600 fork lowers which have been carefully grafted to the original Triumph fork tubes with YSS progressive springs.
Then made a set of spacers to make the spindle and wheel sit true.
Next hurdle? The Triumph discs are 310mm... the caliper mounts on the Honda forks will only take 294mm... but you can't get 294mm discs with the correct fitting for the Triumph hub... so... a set of custom one off disc mounts have been made to fit the discs to the wheel and meet the calipers.
Next up, a set of brackets to re-mount the mudguard, followed by the calipers themselves again taken from the Honda (incidentally the same calipers as the original Triumph one, only a matched pair instead of one).
They'll be joined up by a set of custom HEL hoses and driven by a bigger master cylinder stolen from a Kawasaki zx6r... that's bigger on the inside but looks identical to the original on the outside snd uses the same lever and fluod reservoir.
So once finished... it should look like we did pretty much nothing at all!
