Congratulations Leah Smith, who passed her test today at her first attempt, with 0 minor faults! Her initial test was cancelled at last minute & she managed to secure a cancellation today, which unfortunately, I was unable to take her to...however, she used her sister's car & achieved the result I anticipated.
Leah only had about 27hrs tuition, though was clearly ready after about 21hrs...odd sessions were held whilst waiting for her test to arrive!
A fantastic driver, with an excellent attitude to learning. It was a pleasure teaching her.

Big well done to Iestyn Thomas, who passed his test today, at his first attempt, with just 2 minor driver faults. Even gave the examiner a laugh at his surprise that he'd passed (& so convincingly!)

Big well done to Patrick Kehoe, who passed his test today at his first attempt, with just 3 minor driver faults. He asked me to sit in on his test & it was great to see him drive so confidently.

An interesting opinion, which I agree with. I tell everyone at the start about how I want to be sure their standard is above that of the 'test'. I ensure pupils are good, safe, competent drivers. To me, its about so much more than passing a test...that 30-35 mins drive, where 15 minor faults are permitted.. 15!! Way too many in my view.
Anyway, I occasionally find that some people, particularly parents, want their son/daughter to have a go regardless, hoping they get a lucky 30-35 mins drive & pass.
They might...but are they going to be lucky every time they drive after that? Personally, I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing they are actually prepared for driving on their own safely, than hoping they fluke a test, that is quite easy once a certain standard is consistently shown to myself.

Well done Jacob Strong, who I discovered passed his test recently. After an initial unsuccessful attempt, a second test was booked which unfortunately clashed with a previously booked test, resulting in Jacob finding another instructor to take him to a successful result.

A big well done to James Lodge. After informing him that he wasn't quite ready for his initial test, he decided to attend in his own car & not take any further tuition. After an initial unsuccessful attempt, he managed to pass recently.

Having not presented anyone for a test for a little while, it was back to it today & a first time pass for Callum Edmondson, with just 3 minor driver faults, that the examiner referred to as "nothing much for me to say really". Indicative of a very good, confident drive.
