A nice find on this Rangerover!

The car came in with an intermittent suspension warning message on the dash, and a fault code relating to a rear ride level sensor.

By assessing the data feed from the suspension control module while loading/unloading the suspension I saw evidence of an intermittent open circuit.
On this occasion I was able to recreate the fault and find the break by manipulating the wiring harness to the sensor.

This fault was diagnosed, found, fixed, and retested all within the cost of a diagnostic assessment fee!

This transit was a big undertaking but I got it finished in time for the owner to travel to a festival this week!

I'm now on paternity and eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new baby.

This week marks my first successful in-house cloning of a control module 🥳

What is cloning?

Cloning is the process of copying the software, VIN, and security data from a failing control module and flashing it onto a replacement unit. This creates a "digital twin" that allows the car to start immediately.

What is the benefit of offering this service in-house?

Reduced cost, reduced turn around time, and more options for repair..
On this occasion I was able to supply and clone a used control module for less than half the price of a popular online vehicle electronics repairer!

This car came to me with an engine warning light and a single fault code relating to the engine running too lean.

After some checks I confirmed that all engine management readings were plausible, with the exception of the fuel injection times being slightly longer than expected 🤔

Although the fuel pressure at the injectors was correct I decided to measure the electrical current drawn by the fuel pump.
This allowed me to assess the condition of the motor inside the fuel pump..
I found the current pattern was erratic with higher than expected peaks indicating a faulty motor.

Carrying out the same test with a new pump shows just how bad the old one was!
Injection times now shortened and no more fault code 😎
