We made it on TV! Unfortunately for the wrong reasons 😂. After a tentative qualifying session shaking down the new engine, we suffered a coolant leak after a few laps of the race. Luckily it was just a loose hose. Some frantic zip tying in the pits and with fresh coolant we made it back out to complete the race. Last by a long way, but not a DNF!

Not the day we wanted for Harrison’s first race but proud of the team effort to get the new engine installed in 3 days and that all important first signature on Harrison’s license.

We have a weeks break now (phew) before Rob and John end the season at Brands Hatch Indy on 31st October.

After a manic week replacing the clutch and gearbox, the engine decided to detonate after 4 laps of qualifying

Snetterton is awesome!

Off the back of a successful day at Blyton, the team had high hopes of a solid day of testing at Snetterton with John and Rob in the car. With the next round of the MSVR TrackDay Trophy coming to Snetterton this weekend, both drivers wanted to maximise their seat time on the day and set some benchmark times to measure progress from last year. As this was a general track day (where in car timing is banned), all timing was done between sessions by playing back GoPro footage.

It was clear from the first run that the car and drivers had found a lot more pace since last year. New tyres (Yokohama AO50) and perfect weather led to some solid early pace in the first few sessions, with both drivers lapping consistently in the 2.22/2.23 range. A few more tweaks to the lines and a nice clear late session had Rob at 2.20 flat and John a high 2.19.

Great day and the car performed faultlessly on track all day (build posts coming soon!)

The team are back at Snetterton all weekend with the TrackDay Trophy race on Saturday for John and Rob, and then Harrison Fox, our youngster, is back in the car for a test session on Sunday. Fingers crossed for some decent weather!

TESTING TESTING!!

It’s been a busy few weeks as the team has taken advantage of the recent good weather to get some testing in the bag. First up we had our new junior racer Harrison Fox in the car at Blyton with uber fast Endurance racer and coach Danny Harrison in the passenger seat giving tips on how to get the best out of the Clio. Harrison has an extensive and successful junior karting career behind him, but is keen as mustard to make the next step into Tin Top racing with the ultimate aim of racing at the highest level in Touring Cars and GTs.

This was Harrison's first test in the car (any car!) and the first step was getting used to a FWD race car after spending 10 years in a RWD kart! Harrison was immediately quick off the bat, getting to grips with the gear changes (bearing in mind he has only had a handful of driving lessons) and the optimum lines necessary for FWD on Blyton's outer circuit.

Getting quicker over the day he ended up with a few blistering lap times in the 1.15 range with a 1.15:3 being the fastest of the day (2 up with a full tank). Danny and Harrison were very happy with how the day panned out and he is clearly a natural. The car performed faultlessly as well and pounded round the circuit all day long. With many of the other cars seemingly sidelined with mechanical problems, we were very pleased to see Harrison extracting maximum time from the day.

Also on hand was Stu Stretton who took some simply awesome photos throughout the day. For any motorsport photo needs, drop Stu a line. The team couldn't recommend him enough (as you can see from the quality of the images)

Danny is currently racing in the Dunlop Endurance series in a wicked fast looking Praga R1T. Check out Danny’s pages and drop him a line if you want to get faster!!

Very soon afterwards John and Rob took the car to Snetterton to prepare for the next round of the MSVR TrackDay Trophy......

Fantastic first weekend for John and Rob in the MSV SuperCup at the legendary Silverstone GP circuit. The first outing in qualifying for the new car was a success with both drivers going 5s faster compared to last year.

The dry weather wouldn't hold however and just before the scheduled start time, the heavens opened. A quick rush to change tyres and modify the suspension ensued. After a slight delay the race started behind the safety car John found a solid early pace. After the pit stop we were running at P8 chasing the #75 Honda Integra until Rob had a 'moment' at Stowe on the penultimate lap and couldn't quite gather the slide quick enough. A quick trip to the gravel and the race was over. No damage to the car however and despite a DNF on record, both drivers took away a number of positives from the weekend.

Next step is a test at Blyton Park with a new driver for Q-Ball Motorsport this season. This lad is a special talent having started karting at a young age and is looking for a route into GT and TC racing. We are very excited to represent him in UK Club motorsport! More details and a full biography coming soon!
