Freshly delivered and ready to transport a pair of vintage Norton motorcycles, this Tickners GB955 certainly stands out.

Out with the old, in with the safe. 🔧

The rusty and damaged brake backplates on this 3,500kg trailer were well past their best.

They've now been replaced with new, complete brake assemblies, restoring the braking system and ensuring this trailer can do what it absolutely needs to do: stop safely.

When you're towing 3.5 tonnes, the condition of your brakes isn't something to leave to chance.

A PG9 means your trailer has been deemed unroadworthy and cannot legally return to the road until the defects have been rectified and the prohibition cleared.

Not one of the brakes was working. 😳

This is one of six brake backplates from a tri-axle livestock trailer, and it's one of the worst we've ever seen.

All six brake adjusters were seized solid, and the operating lever in the coupling had also seized, leaving the trailer with no functioning brakes.

And it was still being used to transport livestock.

This is exactly why regular trailer servicing matters. Problems underneath a trailer aren't always obvious until everything is stripped down and inspected properly.

Commercial trailers work hard. Regular maintenance gives you the opportunity to monitor their condition and deal with problems before they reach this stage.
