Our Approach to Quotes & Additional Work
When we provide a quote over the phone, it’s always based on the assumption that the wheel is in sound condition — with the exception of kerb damage, corrosion on the face where lacquer has blown (on diamond-cut wheels).
In some cases, when the wheel actually arrives at our workshop, the true extent of the damage becomes clear. For example, the first Mercedes wheel images show heavily corrosion and pitting. A wheel in this condition may require multiple passes through the oven with primer, with sanding back between each stage to gradually fill the voids in the metal. This adds significant time, labour, gas, and materials, which inevitably incurs extra cost.
By contrast, the second Mercedes wheel images had only straightforward kerb damage, with the face intact and no corrosion. That type of wheel typically needs a single coat of primer, wet paint for the colour, and one powder lacquer finish — exactly what’s covered by our standard quote.
The same principle applies to welding, cracks, and flat spots. These issues aren’t always visible until we inspect the wheel properly. To make sure everything is clear, we now record any additional work required (flat spots, cracks, welds, etc.) and contact customers straight away by phone or WhatsApp to get authorisation before going ahead.
In short:
• Our quotes cover a standard refurb where the wheel is in reasonable condition.
• If further work is required, we’ll show you and get approval before proceeding.
This way, there are no surprises — just transparency about what’s needed to return your wheels to a safe, high-quality finish.
