A new more environmentally friendly vehicle air conditioning system refrigerant gas (known as R1234yf) has become widely used (instead of R134a)
For example, if R134a gas is released into the atmosphere, it has a lifespan of 13 years in comparison to just 11 days for R1234yf refrigerant.
R134a refrigerant gas was the most commonly used refrigerant gas by vehicle manufacturers in recent times up to 2017. The MAC Directive only applies to new vehicles since the start of 2017, so all vehicles currently using R134a are still able to continue to use that refrigerant.
A number of vehicle manufacturers switched to R1234yf refrigerant gas before 2017, so now there are a mixture of vehicles on UK roads using either refrigerant gas.
We are pleased to say that Price motors offers air conditioning system regas services and repairs for both refrigerant gases.
Vehicle manufacturers’ typically recommend drivers get their refrigerant gas levels checked after the vehicle is two years old and then annually thereafter, to ensure maximum system operating efficiency.
