About last night… It was our third Heretics meet of the year, the second at HQ. The sun shone, the music was great the food delicious, the coffee just right and the cars and people simply wonderful 👌 if you were there, thank you 🙏

We enjoy seeing the vehicles you're working on and sharing your stories too. A big thanks to Robert Johnson for telling us some more about his VW Beetle project that he's undertaken in his single garage at home.

The inspiration for this build began with Robert's very first car, a 1973 Beetle, over 10 years ago. It was followed by a classic '67 Split Screen Bus, and the desire to build a proper 'slammer' Bug had never gone away. The goal was simple: get a classic Volkswagen Beetle sitting as low as possible using custom suspension parts and some extra clearance on the bodywork.

The car in question had been on Robert's radar for almost ten years and was previously owned by a friend of his. When it was finally acquired, it was in a fairly sorry state, needing the usual bottom 6 inches of metal replacing, making it perfect for what he wanted to achieve.

However, the project escalated in size and, in his own words, "I ended up getting carried away with the whole thing".

Another day and another trip out to see our parts in action. Chris, our Trade Manager went to see Chris at over in East Sussex to chat all aspects of VW body and paint, but in particular working on the Volkswagen T4. Often overlooked in favour of older classics or the more modern T5 / T6 Chris knows these vans inside out and is only too happy to help if you have some rust that needs busting on a fourth generation Transporter.

Gedi recently met up with Joe and Llew from .autowerksltd in Newport, South Wales.
They’ve only been open a couple of weeks, but already got plenty to keep themselves busy, so very kind of them to take a few minutes out for a chat.
If you need a workshop in South Wales, give these guys a go - they’ll happily tackle classics and modern vehicles 🔧 and have excellent taste in part suppliers 😉
