🚗 Hybrid Range Rover Sport – Multiple Warning Lights & Brake Concern Resolved 🔧
This hybrid Range Rover Sport arrived with multiple warning lights across the dashboard — and a very concerned owner after the fault developed during a short drive to us.
With reduced braking performance, this isn’t something to ignore… especially in a 2-ton, 400hp vehicle! ⚠️
We began with a full diagnostic check and found numerous communication faults and missing messages across several control units. However, nothing immediately pointed us in a clear direction.
After consulting wiring diagrams and technical service bulletins, we went back to basics 🕵️‍♂️ — looking for a common link between all the faults.
💡 Sometimes, when everything looks complicated… the cause is simple.
Being a hybrid, this vehicle uses both a high-voltage (HV) system and a 12V system. Testing the 12V supply revealed just 8.2V in the auxiliary battery — well below the required level.
Further checks confirmed:
✔️ HV system charging was functioning correctly
✔️ Brake booster module relies directly on the auxiliary battery
Testing the battery showed it had failed.
We installed a known good battery, reset the vehicle, and carried out a road test — everything returned to normal 👍
To complete the repair, we:
🔧 Replaced the auxiliary battery with a new genuine unit (located in the rear load area near the HV battery)
💻 Performed all required adaptations and programming
✅ Result: A fully restored system and a Range Rover performing exactly as it should — smooth, safe, and refined.
If your vehicle is showing warning lights or unusual behaviour, don’t ignore it — get in touch with the team today.

This Audi A3 came in with several issues the customer stated that the Airbag light was on and the heater controls weren’t working she was unable to raise either the fan speed or the temperature.
Using our dealer diagnostic system “Odis” we found TPI for a software update to the Airbag control module, we verified this software was required and carried out downloading the most updated software version direct from Audi.

The update cured the Airbag fault but highlighted the need to update the software in the engine Power control module (PCM) and Instrument cluster modules due to compatibility with the new software.
After carrying out the software updates to the engine PCM and instrument cluster we set on to the heater fault, using Odis we found no relevant faults and set about checking what switch inputs we could see.
We found all inputs working normally apart from when we operated either the temperature up or fan speed up, using Odis and the manufacturer wiring diagrams we quickly diagnosed the heater control switch pack to be faulty.
We replaced the switch pack and coded them to the vehicle via software variant coding (SVM) through Odis updating Audi to the replacement of these parts, this is done to help assist in stopping stolen parts from being fitted to vehicles.
A full re testing of all the systems was carried out and the vehicle was returned fixed to the customer 👍🏻

Picture a garage in your mind — what do you see?
Maybe a greasy set of overalls, oily hands, and the smell of petrol like in the old films?
Truth is, the modern garage couldn’t be further from that image.

Today’s cars are basically computers on wheels — packed with sensors, software, and systems so advanced they’ve got more computing power than the rockets that went to the moon 🚀.
We’re talking high-pressure hydraulics, electric systems powerful enough to need specialist training, and complex emissions controls that rely on physics and chemistry, working hand in hand.

With self-driving, automatic braking, and ever-evolving tech. Modern vehicles need expert care to stay reliable, safe, and legal.
Think about it — when you’ve got a problem at home, you call an electrician or a plumber.
But in a modern garage, your technician needs to be all of those professions rolled into one (and then some!).

So next time you picture a garage, think less “grease and wrenches” — and more “advanced technology, training, and precision.”
Because behind every modern car is a technician working hard to keep that incredible machine running smoothly.

Here at ATG Auto Tuning we pride ourselves in being able to provide you the level of expertise required to repair and maintain your vehicle to the highest standards.

Test not guess.
Modern fault finding can often take time and patience, this Audi had previously been twice diagnosed with parts fitted but still no functioning A/C.
The previous garage had diagnosed a compressor fault but after replacing the compressor twice there was still no high pressure so proceeded to change the pressure sensor as there was a fault code for it in the vehicles ECM (Electronc control module) again this didn’t cure the fault.

After being recommended to us, we started our investigation. Upon first inspection of the gas level in the system and the operation of the a/c compressor we thought the compressor was faulty, but knowing it had already been replaced that diagnosis didn’t seem to fit.
Further interrogation of the cars control units found that the ECM was requesting a/c to work but then requesting it to shut down straight away, we carried out wiring checks on the pressure sensor and found that the LIN communication line which connects all the components to the ECM so that command signals can be sent and received had a large resistance between the air quality sensor, pressure sensor and power distribution module.
We temporarily bypassed this loom and normally A/C operation was achieved.
A check with the vehicles manufacturer showed a TSB (technical service bulletin) instructing a new wiring loom be created and re routed to solve this problem permanently.

We fabricated a new wiring loom routing the loom around the engine bay to the two sensors affected to permanently cure this fault.

By being able to test and locate the fault means that there was no further unnecessary changing of parts.

It’s just a shame now the warm weather has gone so the real benefits will be felt next summer.

During this extremely difficult and worrying time we want to let you know that we are still open and will do our best to help in what ever way we can, although the gov has suspended MOT testing for 6months they have also said vehicles must still be in a road worthy and safe condition. Last week more than half our customers that came in for MOT failed on a serious defect like bald or damaged tyres!

We all must listen to the instructions from the gov about only essential travel etc but you can still be prosecuted for a dangerous defect or non road worthy car. Essential repairs to keep you safe are allowed and we are happy to help.

We are staying open to assist our key worker customers and essential business customers but we are taking every appropriate measure under the gov guidelines to keep ourselves and our customers as safe as possible.

We are offering discounts to all nhs staff and essential businesses as we want to do our bit in assisting their great work in keeping us all going.

If we can help with your repairs the please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

We do ask that if you are experiencing any symptoms or are self isolating due to family members being ill you Do Not come for any work so we can avoid any spreading of anything.

Stay safe look after yourself and the vulnerable people in your lives we will get through this and be a better society at the end of it all.

Thanks

Whether it’s a family car or a classic we love working on them. Over the last year we have seen lots of different vehicles all have their roles to play in our lives, some are there for us in an emergency or breakdown some get us from A to B and others are there for the weekend.
Here are a few of what we have seen and worked on.

We all know that feeling of getting old 😢 but for vehicles that can mean many things such as mechanical failure or the dreaded rust! We have had a few little restoration/ rebuild jobs that take extremely large amounts of time and effort to repair in over the last year here is some pictures and insight into why when welding/ fabrication is needed it takes so long.
Here in the following pictures we have a Mercedes 190e Cosworth and a Land Rover defender
