A pair of Corbeau Pro-Series bucket seats, destined for a BMW racecar. So, of course, I'm asked to strip out the centres and replace with VW GTi Clark tartan (I just do what I'm asked!) and modify the upper panels so the cut-off between tartan and black has a bit more curve to it.

I'd say that's Mission Accomplished!

First time I've had a modern Ford Mustang through my doors! This one came in to have the heated steering wheel retrimmed in black Nappa leather and finished off with a purple stitch.

She's a big old beast! 😮

In my line of work, the biggest hurdle is sometimes your own stupidity. And these Recaro seats, which have been trimmed to match the Ford Orion rear bench I did last year, are a perfect example of my own stupidity.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will almost immediately notice that there are some wrinkles on the seat centres. Truthfully, Stevie Wonder noticed them. These are the direct result of my own stupidity. When I was hanging the perforated hide up after it was delivered, I completely failed to notice that it wasn't fully rolled out and that led to it being hung whilst partially folded back on itself. Because I use "all of the cow," these storage marks have found their way onto the passenger upright centre panel. I am working them out of the panel but they are being incredibly stubborn!

They WILL come out. It may take a little time, but they will. So why, you may ask, am I posting these pictures today? I guess it's to highlight how important it is to pay proper attention to what you're doing at every part of a job, even a part as "mundane" as hanging a cowhide up on your tubes... I'm nothing if not accountable here.

Little bit of an update: Maia had a progress checkup yesterday afternoon and she's apparently healing well. I've taken her for the world's smallest walk this morning and she's absolutely wiped out now.

All being well, I should be back to work next week and dealing with the backlog of work. 😶

Update time. And some backstory.

So Maia is originally from North Macedonia and she came to the UK in May this year. We have her pet passport and it clearly states that she was spayed over there in 2024.

When the vet opened her up this morning, she found that she hadn't been spayed even slightly and her uterus and ovaries were heavily infected from the Pyometra that she'd developed! This is, by all accounts, something that can be completely fatal so it's fortunate that she's now been spayed properly and all the infected giblets have been removed, so she should make a full recovery. 🤞

She's had quite a sh*tty start to her life here in the UK and as part of this family, the poor little sweetheart. I'm still staying at home with her while she recovers but, hopefully, we can get back to normal fairly quickly.

Everyone, this is Maia. She has been part of the family since June and, secretly, she's a proper sweetheart. Sadly, she's also not well at the moment. 😢

She's going in for surgery on Sunday so, from Monday 5th October, Hide N Seat will be closed for a week or 2 so I can look after her at home whilst she heals and hopefully recovers.

I apologise in advance if this messes up any deadlines or plans. I'll be back at work as soon as I can be but Maia's health and welfare comes first. That's just the way I'm built.

I'll update further once Sunday is out of the way. 🤞

One of Hide N Seat's "staple dishes" today: a Ford Racing Puma steering wheel.

The genuine FRP Alcantara is starting to become a rarity these days, so I'm lucky that I find myself able to get my grubby little mitts on it for these wheels. There are now probably more FRP wheels that I've retrimmed out there than there are original Ford ones, which is quite a sobering thought.

Another Subaru Impreza 22b replica interior ready to head out of the door. The black cloth is as close as I've found to the original, the Dinamica is the correct shade for the 22b... as far as I'm concerned, it's as close as it can get without using a time machine and a socket set.

So here's something new for me: a huge, snarling Mercedes C63 AMG wagon. 6.3 litres of burbling V8 grunt, with room for a few Labradors in the boot.

The owner wanted something different to the factory black leather trim so we used some Ferrari Cuoio Nappa hides with a complimentary topstitch. The colour's certainly lifted the cabin, that's for sure.

The centre panels are now sporting an embossed perforation pattern, just to break things up a little, and the AMG logo has been stamped into the front headrests. It is, I think, an elegant interior... not brassy or vulgar. 😎

I did, however, have to admit defeat with the centre console armrest; for the life of me, I couldn't work out how to split the lids from their bases! Guess I'm not infallible after all. 😶
