We've had the pleasure of setting up this great little race car with a 1960s lotus twin cam engine running twin 40 weber dcoe side draught carbs, usual pre dyno checks carried out, including comp. test, levels etc. Then on to base dyno runs to find out what we're working with, AFR far too rich, incorrect tubes and jets, and idle mixture screws unevenly adjusted, after adjusting the idle mixture, refining the jetting, fitting the correct emulsion tubes and balancing the carbs [several hours and over 20 runs] we've made very good improvements all through the rev range, much better throttle response and gained 8 hp and 15 nm, but the best thing is that I have been teaching awesome tech dom and my son [who has just left school and started his apprenticeship here] how to tune carbs properly, and we've all really enjoyed it, good times 😎
