PDI Training
I have been an ADI with 2nd2None for a little over a year now having been taken through my Part 3 test by Glenn. Throughout the process of joining the team and getting ready for Part 3 Glenn, and the rest of the team, were never less than supportive and helpful.

I was challenged and guided at every step of the way to ensure that I was ready to deliver for my students and to pass the test. The learning was always delivered in a way that suited my learning style and I was given ownership of my own development which really helped me. Glenn ensured that I had a range of opportunities to sit with lessons and gave me a wide range of scenarios to work through to develop my skill set and to ensure that my approach was flexible enough to meet the needs of my clients.

I would not have passed my Part 3 or become the instructor I am now without the help, guidance and ongoing support I receive from the excellent team at 2nd2None!

If you’re looking for a company to support you through your driving instructor tests, this is the one!
I have been with 2nd2None as a PDI for a while now and the words I would use to describe the company are: supportive, reliable and friendly.
My trainer, Nathan Drewitt is an expert as what he does. He knows the job inside and out and is an exceptional coach.
Paul Meads, another ADI at the company has also been incredibly helpful and supportive, letting me sit in on his brilliant lessons to learn.
All the office staff, especially Holly, are always on hand to support in anyway they can.
The company has lots of opportunities to socialise with other driving instructors with regular meet ups so you can learn from others and connect.
Overall, this is a company that really cares about its employees and people.
I am grateful to be working with 2nd2None.

James was my trainer for my part3 test
James was my trainer for my part3 test. I leant more off James in the first session than I did within the 20 hours training given by my previous trainer.
James is a great coach and mentor, he combines teaching with humour and always makes himself available. I 100% recommend James to get you through both your driving test and/or driving instructor training. Thank you James and your team.

Being a driving instructor involves working with all sorts of people so you’ll need good people skills as well as

- patience and understanding

- a thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of driving

- an ability to teach

- awareness of changes in the regulations for driving tests, as well as driving instruction

- business sense.

Ive just came back from some Part 3 training with a a lovely PDI that works for a big national driving school. He was drawn in by the low cost training being offered.

It was the first time I had sat in the back to watch him teach and I am shocked at the level of teaching I seen. It was more like the school of mum and dad as opposed to a professional driving instructor.

Totally instructor led and next to no Q&A, pupil was having multiple problems that were not being fixed and there was no sign of a goal for the lesson or any mention of shared responsibilities.

After the lesson I gave the feedback to the PDI and he agrees with everything I had noticed. I’ve given him some ideas on how to improve and hopefully this will be a turning point for his chance of passing Part 3.

After asking him more I have found out that he only ever did 6 hours for Part 2 and some of this was theory, he was never shown how to perform all the driving manoeuvres either.

His Part 3 consisted of 10hours of in car training shared with another PDI and the rest is online training. Which clearly isn’t enough.

His actual trainer lives 93 miles away and the PDI is expected to travel there for training as this national firm has no one local.

I’ve stepped in to help this PDI with his additional 20hrs in car before his Part 3 but he is nowhere near ready to be on the road as a PDI.

All I am saying is, please be careful before signing up for cheap training with these national companies.
I guess in this situation, you really do get what you pay for. Be aware of cheap deals.
