I know and understand that it is a struggle to find a driving instructor at the moment, however...
Please could people be aware that there are multiple people in the Scottish Borders saying that they are driving instructors and charging for lessons when they are not qualified or no longer qualified.
It is illegal for them to charge for lessons.
Do not get in a car with them.
Instructors should always display a green or pink badge on their windscreen that is in date and should be able to produce this if asked for it at any time. It should have a photo of the instructor and a Personal Reference Number (PRN) on one side and an expiry date on the other. (See image below)
The badge means that they have trained to be an instructor, passed all the necessary qualifications or are working towards this, that they have passed a DBS check and that they should have the correct insurances (car/public liability etc) to carry out our job, which includes taking you to a driving test.
No badge.
No training?
No DBS?
No insurance?
No driving test?
Is it really worth it to let your loved one in a car with an unqualified, uninsured, stranger?
To help you find an instructor to suit you, you could check Facebook or Google reviews or recommendations from friends or family to ensure you have a good learning experience.
Thanks,
Katie
