Decades on the road: A new home for my stories

Well, hello there, fellow road-tripper! You know the feeling, don't you? There comes a point, if you’ve been living on the road long enough, when the photos, the shaky camcorder footage, the scribbled notes and the GPX routes all start whispering that they deserve more than a box in the attic — and so, after decades of wandering, I’ve finally given them proper homes. I’m thrilled to introduce the new Decades of Travel collection — three companion sites that put our journeys where they belong: as images, films and written stories.

Start with KHWD Travel Images if you love getting lost in photographs (thousands of shots, many never published). Dive into Travel Video Blog KHWD for the films, vlogs and restored footage that really bring a trip to life. Or settle into Decades of Travel for the year-by-year diaries, route notes and downloadable GPX files. Together they’re a little digital museum of motoring across continents — the good, the awkward, the downright hilarious — and they’re all part of our growing archive.

If you follow our best travel blogs by KeefH Web Designs you’ll know this is what we do best: honest trip stories, campsite ideas, practical motorhome tips and a few rambling asides. I hope these sites spark a plan for your next trip, help you polish a route, or simply give you a quiet hour of travel nostalgia. Pop over and have a wander — and tell me which gallery, film or year you get lost in first. 🚐📷🎞️

There’s something comforting about the little rituals we’ve built in our motorhome life — the precise spot for morning coffee that catches the sunrise just right, the soft blanket we wrap around our knees on chilly evenings, the playlist that always means ‘we’re home’ even when we’re parked by a stranger’s skyline. Over the years we’ve learned that those small, repeatable comforts make long trips feel rooted and warm. One practical tip we swear by: create a dedicated ‘coffee corner’ or morning nook with a mug you love and a small shelf for your favourite brew — it transforms a van into a proper home-first thing in the morning matters. For more stories and practical ideas from our journeys, check out our best travel blogs at https://wix.to/HfewrwAblog, created by KeefH Web Designs. What little ritual would make your van feel more like home? Share below — we’d love to hear. ☕🏕️

We’ve just come back from a brilliant UK campsite stay and had to share the highlights — the kind of honest, useful notes we love to jot down for fellow motorhome folk, because who doesn’t want the best pitch and a quiet night’s sleep? 😊🌲 Pitch layout: go for the level, gravel-served pitches near the hedges for privacy and easy awning use; avoid the sloped grass ones unless you like sleeping at an angle. Facilities: spotless showers, well-stocked small shop, and a tidy chemical disposal point — all clutch when you’re on the road. Family- and dog-friendly: fenced play area and dog-wash station made life simple with our travel crew (and yes, the dog judged us for forgetting towels). Quiet hours: they’re strict from 11pm — bliss if you’re in need of real sleep. Booking tip: book the corner pitches early for extra space and shade. We’ve popped two photo captions and a mini day-trip map idea on the blog — find more in our best travel blogs created by KeefH Web Designs. Link: https://wix.to/ZfVTmgY Hashtag time: . We’ve learned the hard way what’s worth the space in our van — and we’ve rounded up six indispensable items we never leave home without, each one chosen for a real trip scenario that proves its worth. Read our best travel blogs created by KeefH Web Designs to see why these picks save time, stress and space: https://wix.to/uTtbuWw 1) Compact awning — lifesaver on rainy coastal days when quick shelter means dinner still happens. 2) Multi-tool with pliers and knife — for stubborn campsite repairs and opening tins when you’re miles from a shop. 3) High-capacity power bank — keeps phones, lights and small fridges running on windy nights. 4) Packable dry-bag set — protects kit from sudden downpours and doubles as extra storage. 5) Lightweight folding chairs — because comfort makes sunsets worth staying for, and they collapse into tiny gaps. 6) Durable waterproof map book — battery-free backup when the signal dies. We’re talking real-world durability and multi-use value here, so you can prioritise smarter buys and avoid gear overload. Tell us which one you’d add — or which one you wish you’d had on your last trip!

Planning your first multi-day motorhome trip can feel like a lot, but we've boiled decades on the road into a compact, experience-led checklist that actually works — from pacing your route to booking campsites at the right windows and packing only what you’ll use. We share two short tales: once we learned the hard way to space driving days after an overnight ferry (never again!), and another time when underpacking kitchen bits meant an impromptu roadside picnic that turned into a laugh — both lessons saved future trips. For calmer planning, check our best travel blogs created by KeefH Web Designs for practical steps, packing lists and campsite timing, all aimed at reducing your planning anxiety and building confidence. We’ve just returned from a charming little campsite that’s a real motorhome find — generous pitch spacing that felt like we had our own mini-meadow, spotless chemical disposal, and family-run facilities that made us feel properly welcome (and that warm welcome included a hand-drawn map to the best local walk!). One photo showed our pitch framed by an apple tree — the dappled light was photo-perfect and honestly made morning coffee taste better. Pro tip from us: ask for Pitch 7 if you want morning sun and evening quiet; the owners observe quiet hours from 10pm so you’ll actually sleep — bliss.
