The Artist Pavilion at Wilton House invited visitors to see familiar cars through the eyes of painters, photographers and sculptors.

Each brought their own interpretation of automotive design, capturing the lines of a body, the impression of speed or the character that makes a particular car so memorable.

Exploring their work offered a different way to appreciate the cars we love, with opportunities to meet the artists and discover what inspires them.

Car Spotlight: Ferrari 250 GT SWB

Finished in Rob Walker’s distinctive dark blue with a white nose stripe, this Ferrari 250 GT SWB holds a remarkable place in British racing history.

Commissioned by Walker for Stirling Moss, it carried him to victory in the 1960 RAC Tourist Trophy at Goodwood, just months after he sustained serious injuries at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Seeing it at Wilton House offered an opportunity to appreciate the car at close quarters and reflect on the achievement of the driver behind the wheel – a story that continues to resonate more than six decades later.

Applications are now open for the Wilton Legends Supercar Drive-In on Sunday June 20, 2027.

Bringing together exceptional performance cars from across the generations, the Drive-In celebrates the design, engineering and character that make these machines so compelling.

Sponsored by Lycetts, the Helmet Exhibition at Wilton House offered a closer look at these distinctive pieces of racing history. Among the highlights was the Race Against Dementia helmet, signed by all living Formula 1 World Champions – a remarkable show of support for the charity founded by Sir Jackie Stewart.
