On this day 4 years ago , we lost the mother of the nation. Queen Elizabeth II , head of the armed forces and the state. The day it was announced , I was. Walking about camp and I literally saw grown men cry. ( Won't say which Regt, as they get enough abuse). She lived a life of service and dedication to the nation, and she was the only subject that no one could ever make fun of in the military (often found out the hard way by an unruly American service person) and I feel the United kingdom and the commonwealth is a sadder place without her.

As the wife has abandoned me and left for work , kids are at their mum's and I don't have a VPN, so it's back down camp to crack on with 1 Medical Regiment gate guard. Went great till I realised I had filled the generator with thinners, that's a mistake you should only make once. More wire brushing and base coats needed, but she's slowly getting there .

With the current halt on some training , us at the gate guard team, while on OPFOR, have been saving money on training for years.

After years of promising like a husband promising to build IKEA furniture, we have finally started on the worst looking gate guard in tidworth garrison . With members of RHQ 1 Medical Regiment and Wksp personnel. We will carry on sanding a painting , chipping away hoping to have her completed in the coming weeks.
